someone should correct me if I'm wrong, because its been years since I went to ESB, but if your friends are photographers, they might prefer the Rock, because the top platforms for viewing have no window glass...much better for pictures. I don't believe you can go outside the windows at ESB.

I would bring them to the Empire State Building. You’re in the middle of NYC and can see the whole city around you. The building was recently renovated and made more energy efficient—they have an exhibit about it. Views are great day or night. We bought tickets in advance. I would recommend that.

Thanks for all the replies! They are very helpful. I'll share this info with my friends and let them pick!
cwojo99 mentioned roof top bars...I would assume a drink at the Ritz could be quite pricey.Any other suggestions for a roof top bar?

Roof Top Bar that I've been to twice and loved it: 230 Fifth
We had appetizers and drinks.

Another fun thing we have done in the city is, in lieu of a "pub crawl", we did a restaurant crawl. We had a group of us, we took turns picking a restaurant (all same night) - who ever picked the restaurant was allowed to order one dish for us all to share. Then we would go to the next. It was FUN! And it allowed us to sample a bunch of different restaurants we would not have been able to go to.
