Too tired to plan - pick our long weekend away please!
 

Flying out of Philly and looking for a fun 4-5 day (maybe a week) destination at the end of May. Late 20s couple with a 14-month old (hence the tired.) He's an easy-going baby and we don't need child-centered destinations. He's pretty content in a sling wherever we go.

We've recently been to - Montreal, Quebec, Boston, San Diego, San Francisco.

We like to do and see a lot. Cities are good, hiking is good. Sitting around is not so good.

Some ideas we've tossed around - Savannah, the keys, New Orleans...
We haven't been to many places between the coasts other than Chicago, Kansas City and Vegas so let me know about any gems out there!

We also like to do alot, we are planning our next trip to Israel (with a 2.5 year old and a 4 month old, can't wait for the 11 hour flight).

There are good deals in Cape May, NJ now, or how about DC?
We went to Nevada several weeks ago (Vegas, hotel was free) and went into the Mojabe desert, lost of trails etc.
However, Vegas is very expensive, even if you don't gamble or drink.

We are planning in the next several years to go to S. Dakota, and stay at Deadwood.

What about Phoenix? THere is a lot of hiking around there plus you can go to Sedona or possibly the Grand Canyon. Scottsdale was a neat place to walk around.
It is funny you mentioned Montreal- that was going to be my first suggestion!

Philly to Boston or Portland Maine should be cheap. How about head to Ogunquit and visit the Southern coastal Maine. We love seachambers.com for pretty affordable. There is a rocky path about 1.5 miles long as well as hard sand beach if you have a heavy stroller. You could explore York, lighthouse and Kennebunkport which has Rachel Carson Beach and Reserve. And rates are still partial off season and crowds are ok.

I prefer Charleston to Savannah. Consider it.

OK, we decided to go to Sedona & the Grand Canyon and bumped the trip up to mid-April.

I vote for Charleston SC. Weather should be great. Lots of walking within the historical district which is fairly large. There are several area plantations to visit and a boat trip to Fort Sumter. If you are there five days may want to take a day and drive to Beaufort which is one of my favorite SC towns. Very scenic and relaxing. You could take a Gullah tour near Beaufort - very interesting. Charleston is close to a number of beaches if you feel like a day of surf and sand. And did I say the food is magnificent??
