Rolling clothes rather than folding works really well. I travelled to Japan for a 2 week business trip using carry on luggage only. My husband was amazed at what I managed to pack in my suitcase.
As for shoes, if it is summertime I take a pair of tennis shoes (wear them on the plane), a pair of black sandals and a pair of brown sandals. If I am travelling in winter, I take brown and black shoes instead of sandals and I have shoes to match whatever I wear. |
Ladies, lets leave the capri pants at home. Nothing says "dowdy" quite like capri pants on women over the age of 18.
|
Obviously, Brooklyn Bomber, you just haven't been looking at the "right" older women...besides, the capri pants are about all you can buy these days. Would you prefer "short-shorts" on the women over 18?

I did the old ratty underwear thing on a trip 2 weeks ago. The problem came when I needed to try on a pair of shorts in a ladies restroom (no fitting rooms). The underwear looked so horrible that I was too embarrassed to change in the main part of the ladies room. I had to wait for a stall to open; there's not much room to change in a stall. No more holey underwear on trips for me.

Capris dowdy??? No way! Black linen capri, white linen shirt, black & white leather thongs (on your feet!!!) (or red or black). Look again BB!!

I have, and every time I do, I say to myself, "Old Navy, meet mini-van mother; mini-van mother, meet Old Navy."
|
Bomber boy, despite that acerbic wit, you're busted. How old are you anyway, 100? Capris rule. And Old Navy mini van moms rock! Guess your style is more of jolly ole England for little ole ladies in hats; now they're HOT! |
I came of age with Laura Petrie's capri pants! :-"
Looking at them, not wanting to wear them! We, too, pack an extra bag to bring back the "gotta have essentials". We also have room in the hard covered golf bag that we ship over. alooohaaaa Kal |
That is the craziest thing I ever heard, capri pants dowdy...not bloody likely!!
They are the "in" thing for people of all ages. Floral, stripes, etc. A cute pair of sandals with them and you are set. Old lady would be to wear them with nylons and sandals with the sandal toe nylons exposed--Mrs. Doubtfire |
Thanks for all the tips. I have been rolling some clothes. Howver, I do have snorkel gear I am bringing in the suitcases too. I know you can buy it, but I have great gear that works really well, no leaky masks, etc.
Also, the hotels we are at have washers and dryers. I have done this sometimes on vacation too..no big deal. Thanks to all |
