Too late?

After a quick perusing of this Utah forum I am wondering if we are too late--just a couple days ago hubb and I were talking how the only 2 states our kids have been to are Washington (where we live and they've been to many great places here) and Hawaii!!
He and I are both interested in the 'red rock parks and canyons" of Utah and we'd thought about taking a week or 9 days or such for a big family trip there. BUT perhaps it's too late already to find lodging options?
Let me know your opinions, I'll have other questions if we do commit to this trip and yes, I am reading up on the board.

PLEASE forgive the lame title without any location reference in my post--sorry folks!! Just hit the post button too quick.

When are you planning on going?

Probably the 3rd or 4th week of this coming June.

I would think it's still relatively doable, as long as you're flexible. I would repost your questions with a better title (June trip to Utah or something similar) and you'll get some other opinions on feasibility, as well as lodging ideas. You won't get many people to even look at this thread with the current title.

When you re-post, give some details about what types of lodging you're interested in (camping, RV, hotel, B&B), as well as the activities you're interested in (sightseeing, hiking, rafting, horseback riding). And include your transportation thoughts (do you plan on flying to Utah, or driving).

The parks in Utah are somewhat spread out, and most people do Zion/Bryce/Capital Reef OR the Moab area (Arches/Canyonlands plus Monument Valley). I think 9 days is probably too short a time to see both areas adequately, but would definitely give you enough time to explore either area in depth.

And of course, it will be hot. The first option (Zion/Bryce/Capital) would be probably be slightly cooler than the Moab area.

It's not too late.

First, Repost with another heading.

Not nowing where in WA, I checked and found it is 21 hours drive from Seattle to Grand Canyon - so if you drive, you will spend 4 days on the road. I would fly if you can.

My suggestion - fly into Las Vegas. Spend only on night there. Drive to Bryce Canyon, Zion NP, Grand Canyon. Drive back to LV, fly home. There are many posts here using that as a basis for a family trip - with various add-ons if you wish.

Then your kids can say they have seen parts of Nevada, Utah and Arizona.

Once you start to look at maps of this part of the country, it is very easy to say - "As long as we are going that far, we must see...." If you do that, your trip will take about 11 months. There is so much to see, but you can always come back.

Have a good trip.
