Too hot in Sedona in July?

We're looking to go to Sedona (Enchantment Resort?) first week in July with 2 kids, 8 and 11. We'd like to use this as our base for the week, and travel around to the Grand Canyon and other places on day trips. Is it too hot at this time of year? Does this make sense? Where should we go? Thanks!!

www.weather.com will give you the temps. The desert usually runs in the 100's in the summer. Not sure what you consider "too hot"-

Sedona is at 4,500 ft. altitude, up above the desert-floor heat of the Phoenix-Tucson area. Daytime temps in July range up around 95, with a drastic cooling coming around 4 p.m. We sleep under blankets every night. July marks the start of the Arizona monsoon, a 90-day period when brief, vigorous thunderstorms come late in the day. As the storms approach, temperatures drop quickly. Suggest you telephone 1-800-288-7336 and ask the Sedona Chamber of Commerce to send you their free booklet, "Experience Sedona." It is filled with facts about weather, ideas of things to do, places to see, great places to eat, etc.

I have been to Sedona several times in the summer. It is not as hot as Phoenix or Tucson. It will probably be in the low 90's. By the afternoon it cool off because of the mountain winds. you will love Sedona. The area is awesome

I, too, have been to Sedona in the summer (can't remember if it was June or July, though). I don't recall it being unbearably hot. If I remember correctly, it was warm during the day and cool at night, as Al stated.

Go and enjoy yourself. It's a beautiful area.

Been to AZ in July. Kept it very brief in Scottsdale, where it was very hot, and then worked our way north to Sedona, which was warm but less stifling. Take kids to Oak Creek Canyon to swim / cool off. When you reach GC / Flagstaff area, it is significantly cooler still.
