Too fat to fly - Helicopter tours in Alaska

Are there weight limits for individuals that go on helicopter tours? Is there a point at which people are turned away if they weight too much or are forced into buying two tickets if they exceed the weight limit?

yes, there are, usually about 250 pounds. If there is room, you can sometimes buy two tickets.

Just back from a fabulous Alaskan cruise...Yes, there is a 250 lb weight limit. There was a scale everyone had to get on (a source of great mirth for all). If you are over 250 (5 lbs leeway), you must (by law) pay 50% higher. I say, what the heck, go for it! It's worth every penny.
If you book on your own, you'll save $50. We used Coastal Helicopters in Juneau. They came highly recommended, and rightfully so! The highlight of our cruise. If I had it to do over, I would have taken the longer (2 hour) excursion.

Hope this helps!
Joan

Lyn, maybe you could use this trip as an incentive to eat healthier, if it is a bit of time away. I'm already trying to lose weight for a flight to Hawaii in a few months because I know on the shorter legs of my trip, my butt, at it's current size, will be a squeeze so I'm trying to do something positive about it rather than just worry!
