Tolls from Miami to Orlando
I'm visiting Orlando in November and I'm trying to decide which way to go from Miami. I haven't been to Miami in almost 5 years so I don't know if there are any changes I should consider. Which would you recommend? Taking the Florida's Turnpike (which has a lot of tolls) or just plain old I-95?
Any of you know how much money in coins I should take if I choose the Turnpike? Paulie |
Paulie--
By all means take the turnpike!! I think it's around $15.00 from Orlando to Miami, but it is money well spent. I really would avoid I-95 for that trip. |
Try mapquest.com.No tolls doesn't necessarily mean cheaper.

Take the TURNPIKE , I95 is a mess. It is close to $23 dollars now....no need to take that much in change, just pay the attendants with dollar bills.

Is it really $23? Last time we did the turnpike from Miami to Orlando back in December, it was under $12.
The turnpike will take you around 3 hours. I-95 would easily take you six hours. |

Tolls for a 2 axle vehicle from I-4 in Orlando to the Dolphin Expressway in Miami are $16.70. As miguelgcuadra said, no need to take any change at all. I-95 is really a mess, especially in the West Palm area. Also, people tend to drive really fast on the turnpike. The last couple times I've driven up, I drive about 85 mph on the remote sections and people blow past me like I'm standing still. |
Correction, last December we got on the turnpike at Stuart (we were in Palm Beach) and it was under $12 from Stuart to Orlando.

Thank you all for your replies!! I'll definitely take the Turnpike and save myself the hassle and a couple hours of driving.
