Todays Journal spoke highly of mobissimo.com to search for airfares.
One big benefit is that it claims to search individual airline sites including Southwest and Jet Blue. Orbitz and Expedia don't show the fares on many of the discount airlines.
I'm going to try it myself...but I thought that others may also want to check it out.

Dick, I just tried it and don't really like it as much as www.itasoftware.com.
Itasoftware searches multiple carriers and gives you an option of searching for arrival and departure airports up to 300 miles from your preferred ones.
I actually found much cheaper airfare that mobissiomo.com found.
I think the one thing they do that is useful is to provide published fare so you can search the discounters from there.
Maybe they are better for international travel?

Does www.itasoftware.com. search the discount carriers? I'm in the DC area and have the luxury of Jet Blue, Air Tran, Independence Air and Southwest.
The article also mentioned..
www.farechaser.com
There are so many of us on this board, that in a short time we can check out if these sites offer any real value.

I used farechaser.com yesterday and found/booked a reduced rate on a Hampton Inn (lower than offered on the Hampton Web Site) after being directed to Travelocity. Interestingly, I could not find the rate when going direct to Travelocity.
