To live IN Charleston. Where?

I keep seeing on line North of Broad or South. I take it South is the elite area.

Does anyone know how it's looking with the city getting rid of the slum areas? When I say slum it's just run down. But, I also dont think I'd go walking around by myself.

While there are 'less than desirable' areas of downtown, since the two bridges are almost completely gone, the entire downtown should be gentrified within the next 10 years.

My first pick would be a townhouse (in the true sense not meaning condo) on Tradd Street or Bedon's Alley south of Broad Street.

Do you want a house, condo, or apartment?

I'm looking for a fixer upper. Something that only needs lipstick and rouge so to speak. I want it to be in a good location if not now then later. I know get the magic ball out right. :)

I wish there were great real estate search sites for Charleston. Does anyone have one?

frenchtoile, good luck finding a fixer upper downtown.

The problem is, Charleston's downtown has never gone into disrepair as other downtown's have and it has always been coveted real estate making run down homes difficult to find.

Did you try Sotheby's?

Have you looked at www.realtor.com? Punch in the zip code you are looking for, # or bedrooms, price range and see what comes up. I just looked for the historic district. LOL...the housing slump hasn't hit there!
