to key or not to key in November

My husband and I are looking to get away without the children and are considering the Florida Keys area. We scuba, tennis and golf and are hoping to do all three. Will the weather cooperate or will we be disappointed with no/some sun?? Help-first time away for more than one night in 10 years.!!!!!! Thank you.

The weather should be pretty cooperative in November. In Key West the average high for November is 79. I'm not familiar with either tennis or golfing in the keys, though, so someone else will have to address that.

Check out WWW.KEYWEST.COM for events. Diving should be good, and I think there is 1 golf course, and there are tennis courts--if you are at one of the resorts there should be. Check www.weather.com and look for their historical weather site. We've been down there in Nov. and the weather has been wonderful.

I spend a fair amount of time in Key West and can't remember having seen tennis courts at any of the hotels.

There is only one public gilf course in the keys(Key West), check out www.keywestgolf.com for more info. I am sure that some of the better-quality resort hotels in Key West would have tennis courts. As an alternative, Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada has very nice tennis courts and an on-site private 9-hole golf course. Check out www.cheeca.com. Might be a little pricey, but check it out. November is a great time in the keys, you will never get better room rates.

I spent a week on Key West in November '97 and the weather was perfect -- highs mostly in the 80s, lows in the 70s, mostly sunny every day. It's a nice time to go because rates still tend to be "low season" and it's not very crowded.

Sorry, can't help with the golf/tennis issue.

Can't help

The Wyndham Casa Marina in Key West has tennis courts, but in my opinion it's not one of the better places to stay. It gets very spotty reviews and its location isn't particularly convenient. The hotels on the Gulf (the Ocean Key House, the Hilton, the Hyatt, the Pier House and the Galleon, which is a timeshare that rents to non-owners) do NOT have tennis courts.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), the Keys are not a golf-and-tennis type vacation destination. It's more of a stay-out-on-the-ocean-in-a-boat-either-fishing-or-snorkling-scubadiving-then-hitting-Key-West-for-great-eats-and-drinks kinda place. But, I guess a place or two might have a tennis court, and there is a drought-ridden, unchampion-style golf course.
