To hot for a soft top in late August?

Hi my self and my wife to be are visiting Vegas as part of our honeymoon in Late August.
Were thinking of renting a classic muscle car from "Las Vegas Exotic Rentals" for a day. The plan was to visit the hoover dam but will it be to hot in say a soft top 68 GTO or Cobra replica?
Cheers, Allan.

We got into our friends convertible in LV once August and everyone jumped right back out again. It is impossible to touch railings, doorknobs, anything that is out in the sun ..
I would go for the highly juiced car with the best a/c (Cobra)

On the day my sister got married in Vegas (7/13/02), it was 113 degrees. We were all sweating like crazy, and the a/c in the limo was cranked up as high as it would go! So, I would say get the car with the best a/c you can find, and skip the convertible!

Before I drive away from a car rental agency in that part of the world,I would make sure that the a/c (air conditioning) really works; you'll be glad you checked it out. It should run really cold, if not, ask for another car.

I would agree it is too hot. Even with the AC cranked wide open, the car becomes a hot box. Metal is a heat conductor.

Allmoo,

You were getting good advice from the Fodorites on your other thread about this. Why did you choose to begin a separate thread? I don't think ou will find anyone who will htink a convertible or soft top is a good idea in the desert in August.

if he is talking about a classic Cobra, which I believe he is, it may not even HAVE a top. think the new Viper - no roof at all.

I don't think he is talking about the Mustang Cobra.

I was thinking of the old Cobra Mustang, flygirl is right. The replica Cobra at Exotic rentals has no a/c and no top!
Remember allmoo, it hits about 110 + most days in August in Las Vegas.

Pure folly. It will be far toO (notice the 2 "o"s) hot, especially for two people from the UK who won't be used to desert heat or driving on the right side of the road in a powerful convertible-top muscle car without air conditioning. I'm used to it myself, and do drive in the desert in summer with the top down. And lots of water and sunscreen.

no top or A/C? ouch!

you would likely have your pick of colors to choose from though. maybe get a Ferrari, they have those there too? I saw Hummers, all sorts. (might be hard to hold hands in the Hummer - they are HUGE)
