TO ALL POSTERS: PLEASE INCLUDE DESTINATION INFO IN QUESTIONS

Please do not post mysterious questions which do not tell other fellow travelers what place you are talking about. You will get more responses. Would you stop someone on the street for information and say
hey how do I get there? Thanks.

Gotcha! However, there was one really funny thread a few days ago about the New Orleans Trolley on Canal Street. No one knew WHAT Canal St.--after all, there's a well-know one in NYC, could have been that one--and it was unintentionally funny and sweet. Wouldn't have happened if the poster was not geographically challenged.

just topped it for you so you can laugh, too.

I remember a question about "The Bay". Thousands of bays in North America!!!

Heartburn3 Jul 12th, 2003 06:41 PM

What's the problem? Aren't you all mind readers??? LOL!!!

Why don't you just answer them concerning the Canal Street or Bay YOU were assuming it was and let them all get lost? That would teach them.

Anonymous Jul 12th, 2003 06:56 PM

Often, the problem isn't that writers assume we know which Bay or which Canal Street -- they think that by selecting a state (or country) as a keyword, they're directing their message to a state-specific discussion board. I suppose here might be some readers who search and read only the messges for a specific state, but the rest of us just go down the general US list.

You know, the new folks just don't know any better, and will never see your admonition.

The seasoned veterans can usually figure it out anyway.

And, someone will always request clarification.

The point is that many people who want to share info do not have the time or patience to check every email that might pertain to a place that they know.
I think that Fodors could do a better job of informing people who are newcomers how to maximize the chances that someone with useful into might reply.

I think Anonymous has given a good answer. When I first started posting on Fodors, I thought the same thing.

I don't open a post without a destination in the title when I think there should be one. ((N))
