Tn-Vanderbilt area restaurants

you all just respond faster than other forum...college tour trip on Sun-mon and staying near Vandy so...good spots to eat w/ a teen - she likes pasta, seafood, burger - no BBQ and don't want to break the bank - affording private college tuition will do the trick - thanks.

We've eaten at a cute deli called Noshville. It has those great half sour pickles on the table.

My DD, who is now a freshman at college in CT has a friend there from Nashville. He doesn't seem too impressed with Noshville, but we had a good meal there. Excellent corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, with a ton of those great pickles.

We just happened to be there over parents weekend at Vanderbilt, I don't know if it's always that crowded.

She would love the pickles...anyone heard anything good/bad about Blackstone Brewery or Amerigo - both on West End?

Hi leahinsc, My son is a freshman at Vandy . We've been there 3 times (visit, move-in, and parents weekend. It is such a fun city. There are a lot of great restaurants. I researched restaurants a lot. We all loved The Boundry. It is a cool/hip place and the flavors of all their food is wonderful. They also have tapas or small plates (much smaller portions). The Sunset Grill is also excellent. These are both real close to Vandy. Don't miss for breakfast Pancake Pantry. It is an institution and not to be missed. I am not a big pancake fan but I gotta have their Carribean pancakes with bananas and coconut.

I am happy to tell you anything else that might interest you. Have a wonderful trip. He absolutely loves Vanderbilt.

Don't miss delcious tex-mex & buckets of beer at San Antonio Taco Co., or SATCO, on 21st Avenue. It's a Vanderbilt institution.

I went to Vandy and have to second Gekko's rec for SATCO. I still dream of it so many years later. I'm going to my reunion just so I can go there again. There is also a PF Chang's right near campus which isn't too expensive. The Boundary is good. Go to www.vanderbilt.edu and check out Nashville Info. There is a list of restaurants the school recommends.

Another vote for SATCO, Pancake Pantry and Sunset Grill.

You might also try Sylvan Park or Elliston Place Soda Shop for a real meat + 3 experience. If you aren't from the South, think of it as an sociology experiment!

For a little more upscale dining, try Bricktops on West End. It is yummy.

They ended up at Blackstone for dinner - the food was good but the surroundings weren't that impressive and Amerigo for lunch which they enjoyed. Thanks all of you.
