Tipping guidelines for Hotel doorman-Help!

What is the customary amount to tip a doorman and what typical services merit a tip? Do you normally tip him each time he justs opens the door for you?

it's usually just like the mainland..$1 but it would be unusual tip him everytime because it's not like he's parking your car or taking your bags into the hotel room. Tip only for car doors.

Often, a Doorman is a fabulous resource. In the better hotels, he's talked to everyone coming and going and can be full of recommendations, tips, and other advice. I make it a point to be generous with a knowledgable doorman.

If the doorman takes your bags from car inside, tip him $1/bag -- this applies to bellmen -- but not both. If doorman gets you a cab, $1. If guy gets your car and you plan on parking with them again, $5. If not $2 or so. You don't tip for them opening the door.

Don't forget the FRONT DESK CLERKS, the front desk have the impowerment if you have a good room or a poor room. Do you care for a view? All a bellman does is carry your bags from point A to point B. <BR>DON'T FORGET THE FRONT DESK PEOPLE!!!
