Tip re Righa Royal prices
Hi, I finally decided on Rihga Royal for our late Sept trip to NYC (from Australia) because of size of rooms (travelling with 11 yr old) and renovations will be done by then so it should be gorgeous. After searching various sites/prices, ended up booking over phone to hotel for Park View suite for $708 per night + taxes (late March).
Just happened to check the hotel web site last night (late April). There was same room for $560 per night (same dates, of course)! So of course I have cancelled the first reservation and re-booked at the lower price. Does this happen often? When I called the hotel they could not match the internet price, even tho it was their own hotel web site. I don't really understand this (he said something about 3rd parties operating the site). Anyway, I guess I'll keep checking every month to see if it goes down even more!!! |
I got the best deal through the hotel's website too. It's a great hotel. I thought the location was the best!

That is true more and more booking hotels--booking online through their own website more often than not yields their best price.
I have found the same to be true of car rentals, and as with the hotels, the actual rental location can't match the deal I got online. |
That's amazing (and ironic given my post to you on another thread seconds ago.) ;)

I believe I paid $500 in November. It is the BEST hotel in town imho. Hope you agree!

Better than the Mandarin Oriental? Better than St. Regis? Better than the Four Seasons? Wow, I thought the Righa was nice, but that's quite a claim!!!

Well, I do exaggerate. I speak in gross terms too often. But for the type of hotel we usually speak of on this forum, this is a fabulous hotel - and we stayed in one of the best suites. No, certainly not the St. Regis. Apologies :)
