Tip for airport shuttle van driver (San Francisco)
Hi,
I just want to know how much normally do you guys tip a shared airport shuttle van driver. I was just back from a trip to San Francisco...I'll tell you what'd happened later, just want to make sure I did the right thing. (for your information, I did tip :) ) Thanks for your opinion in advance. James |
I would give him a few bucks for helping with the luggage. ((b))
|
oh, I forgot to add, he didn't do much about my luggages, I put them in all by myself
|
I used to take the shuttle all the time when I lived in SF. I believe I would generally tip $3-4.
|
If he didn't help with the luggage, it's like taking the bus or mass transit. He gets nothing. ((b))
|
oh, so glad I have my justice! He didn't help much with my luggages, and when I tip him a dollar for that, he told me I was cheap!!! Right in front of my face!!!!! I was soo mad at the time! You know I tip the hotel maid 3 - 4 dollars even! I might not be generous, but I'm not cheap either!
|
It's a "service" thing to me. If he didn't provide a service, he didn't deserve a tip.
You should have grabbed your dollar back from him and given him the "finger." ((b)) |
Thanks Budman. You're so right! When I arrived San Francisco with a different shuttle company, I tipped the driver 6 bucks because he was sooooo nice, and I'd never had a problem with them. I used a different shuttle company becuase the hotel introduced another one to me, at first I thought they're all the same. I was soo wrong!

Last time back from SF to SFO via shuttle, Mrs. Peabody and I had 5 bags laden with wine and stuff and the driver had a full van, shifted all the bags in without damaging anyone's treasures, and put up with a VIP (Very Impatient Pottymouth) (not us, by the way) who criticized his every move.
You bet your bippy I tipped him well. |
