times square portland square or the edison?

Am planning a trip to Times Square and looking for an economical hotel that is clean, nice, etc. Has anyone ever stayed at the Edison or Portland Square?

Sallie,
Read the "Rants & Raves" here at Fodor's on the Portland Square. I have never stayed there, but have stayed many times at the Edison. Great location for theaters, lots of dining options near by. Small "Cafe Edison" in the hotel is a lot of fun and serves inexpensive options for breakfast. I have always had excellent service at the hotel, a VERY clean room & bath, and I have always felt safe there.

Both are fine choices for the budget-minded traveler. Go with the best rate.

Portland Square often has a $99 special on their website.

I have not heard too many favorable comments on the PS. I would go for the Edison!

Check out the Best Western President. Clean, quiet, less than $100 a night.

Check out www.biddingfortravel.com for successful Priceline bids for NY hotels.
You will get a better hotel for the same price.
