Tim Russert 1950 - 2008
 

Tim Russert died of an apparent heart attack today. He was a really energetic and good interviewer, who provided intelligent reporting nad commentary. He really enjoyed is work and I will always think of him smiling. I'll miss him going in to the election season.

And he was so young - yikes! It's a reminder to take care of ourselves as best we are able.

OMG! I loved watching him and enjoyed his broadcasts during elections.

What a loss. Not many people can talk politics and be a likeable guy.

What reporter did you trust more than Tim Russert? It is horribly ironic that Russert will be not there for this upcoming historic Election Eve.

I watched him nearly every Sunday, morning trapping his guests, whatever their afflication with their own words. His research impeccable.

Honesty, honesty, honesty without histrionics or innuendo, He had genuine passion for his work.

Usually it is a platitude that someone will be missed or is irripalcable, but I actually believe it true with Russert.

Yeah..... sad news. If he'd have run for president, I'd've voted for him.

So very sad. My condolences to his family, his many friends, and all his colleagues. MSNBC commentators are pretty shook up.

I was shocked and sadden by the news of Tim's death. We have loss an excellent journalist.

A genuinely nice guy, too. My DH sat next to him at a couple of Washington baseball games and enjoyed talking to him. He autographed a ticket to bring home to me. DH says he really knew his baseball and loved watching the games.

Tim Russert had a gift for wading in very dangerous political waters without appearing to favor one side or the other. At the same time, he had no qualms about asking the tough questions, and following up with another, and another. I don't know of another network reporter/analyst I trusted as much. He will be greatly missed.

Any suggestions on whom we turn to now for unbiased reporting??

I posted on the Lounge too. I just saw him moderate a very exciting debate between Giuliani and Edwards in NYC two weeks ago. Russert was brilliant. My friend who I went to the debate with and I shed tears tonight about his passing. This man was brilliant. He was fair, kind, and knowledgeable. It is a huge loss for us all.

I very sad day Orcas and I can only imagine how shocked his love ones are as he was so young. An American who was truly respected from everything I have heard and read. He will be very missed.

Tim aand his family were summer residents of Nantucket.

He was incredibly generous with his time, offering support to many local institutions, and he and his wife were generous contributors to a variety of Nantucket charities.

We pride ourselves on "not noticing" celebrities, so I like to think that we repaid him by giving him a place where he could walk around town or go out on a boat and enjoy himself without a lot of people bugging him.

I think everyone hear feels both shock and a great sense of loss at his untimely death.
