Tickets to Lion King in NYC
 

I would like to buy tickets to The Lion King in NYC at the Minskoff Theater. Can anyone recommend a good place in the theater for seats for basically good viewing but not "the" most expensive seats. I will have a 6 yr old with me so would prefer to spend a little more and be sitting somewhere he can actually see the show. Also, if you have any recommendations where I can get a discount on an advance ticket purchase, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Lakers again. Here are my best seating options as I see it, all within the $150 level tickets: (1) orchEstra level, Row O Seats 121 and 122; (2) orchestra level, Row S seats right in the middle; (3) mezz level, Row B (so second row behind A), Seats 133 and 134. Orchestra seats in rows A - N are all $250/ticket, which I just can't swing. The first orch row I saw in the $150's per ticket is Row O. The front of the mezz seems to be the same $150/ticket price, but I'm not sure if it's better to be close to the front of the mezz level or back of the orchestra level for viewing purposes (again, remember I'll have a small child with me). Wow $150 for a ticket, I had not realized it was that expensive. First Lion King is still selling out most nights, amazingly, so you just won't find discounted tickets, the same for Wicked. Even though the show has been up for several years there is still a high demand which is why tickets arenot discounted.

All that said, I'd go for the Mez. You have more of a chance to see the entire stage. Also less of a chance that your little one will have someone blocking the view.

For when is this? Very often if the tickets don't sell at the premium price, they drop it to regular price. Unless you only have 1 date/performance you can do this, I wouldn't be in a rush to buy if you're coming in the next few weeks.

Mclaurie $150 ARE regular priced tix. Premium tix are $210. I agree the mez tix are probably the best. The big entrance is cool when all the animals come down the aisles, so that is a lot of fun. But if you are stuck in the middle of a row in the orchestra and your little guy can't see, it's not so much fun. It's a great show you'll love it.

Frankly, I'd recommend the movie versus the Broadway show for your six-year old. The Broadyway show is dark and gloomy and all the younger than adolescent kids all around us were shocked, dismayed, depressed, as the show progressed. And, were never all that "uplifted" by the end. Personally, I would not take a six-year old to the show. We left after the intermission.

They do have booster seats, if you get there before they run out. And, others are more than willing to sway around so the little ones can see better.

The production is amazing, but just not overcome the darkness and sadness of the story.

I just went to the Ticketmaster Site and for Friday the 14th (just as an example) you can get 4 great Mezz seats for $122. and they are available. You can go to the back of the Mezz to save money and spend $87 a seat. Broadway box didn't seem to have much better... My kids loved the Broadway show. This was a while ago but my youngest was probably 6 at the time. Enjoy.

You're always better off price-wise going to the "original" source rather than broadwaybox.com for regular-priced tickets. After all, they're simply a ticket broker in that situation.
