Gina-
There is no charge to visit Pearl Harbor <http://www.nps.gov/usar/>, unless you want an organized tour. Gray Line <http://tinyurl.com/33dfbr> is one of many sightseeing companies that offers tours to Pearl Harbor. Be sure to see the other discussion entitled "pearl harbor and accommodations" on this forum.

No reservations possible. Tickets are handed over to each person, so it isnot possible to get more then 1 ticket at the time.Be there early, to avoid long lines.
Even when in tours you have to stay in line and wait for your turn.

The only charge is for the optional headphones. Some like them, some don't.

If you are driving, drop someone off near the end of the line for tickets. Then you can park the car. Just in the few minutes it takes to park the car, several tours buses can show up & the line gets a lot longer.

But, there are 600 per hour that go on the tours, so don't worry about a long line.

Lots to do on Oahu. See the note on USS Arizona Memorial.

Also be aware, you can not bring anything with you that can't fit in your pockets. NO purses, backpacks, etc. Can have a small camera around your neck. There is a baggage check tent, $3/item. That has to be done BEFORE you get in line for an access pass.

We were at PH in Nov, arrived early as possible, picked up our passes & got right in to view the 10-15 minute movie which is shown before we were ferried out to the AZ memorial. Head phones are worth the small cost. We took the USS Missouri tour & enjoyed it. After the tour, we ate a late lunch on the ship. It's basic food, but an interesting experience, to us, anyway. It's called the "Truman Line" because Harry S. stood in line, just like the men. Hubby toured the Bowfin, I bought postcards at the gift shop & wrote them at a picnic table, enjoying the gorgeous view of the Harbor. I borrowed a pen from the gift shop because I carried no handbag.

While it's best to get to Pearl Harbor early, if you don't, you can go in, get a pass for the next tour (they'll tell you the time), then drive away and come back if need be - or go off and see the USS Missiouri or the Bowfin if the delay is that long. But if you get there too late, you could miss the last tour - they don't run all that late.

There's no waiting generally for the Missouri; you buy your ticket for it near the Bowfin entrance and take a trolley out to the Missouri, a 10 minute ride each way. The trolley runs often.

While you can't take any bags into the Arizona Memorial center, I did take my large digital SLR (which would not fit in my pocket) and wasn't hassled.

We just got back from our Hawaii trip. When we were in Oahu, we got to Pearl Harbor about 11:30 on a Tuesday and our tickets were for 1 PM. We had time to look at the exhibits and grab a bite to eat and then it was our turn. Not a long wait at all. Went to the Missouri Battleship afterwards. Thought that was worthwhile too. Enjoy your trip!

Went in January in the afternoon. There was no line getting in and about 30 or 45 minutes wait for the show/tour to start.

After the Arizona Memorial tour, there was not enough time after that to see the Bowfin and the Missouri, so I chose the Missouri. Visiting the USS Missouri was great. Took the mid-priced tour and loved it, the guide was knowledgeable and amusing. It is really an awesome structure. I stayed till closing and the last bus back to the parking lot.
