Tickets for of SOUTH PACIFIC

I'll be in NYC fo a few days -Tuesday thru Friday- this coming week and am wondering if there are tickets available for South Pacific - or is it one of those plays that is sold out ?

Also, are tickets for South Pacific ever available at the half-pice or discounted kiosk at Times Square? I'd appreciate any advice - and thanks from an out-of-towner !

You're in luck. If you want to get them in advance, check out broadwaybox.com or playbill.com. Both have discount offers. Or, you can wait until you get to the city and wait in line at TKTS where the prices are lower. Of course, the negative about the latter option is that you may have to wait in a line.

I'm at big proponet of buying them ahead of time using a broadwaybox.com discount vs. staying in line for them for a little bit more of a discount. With limited time in NYC, I'm in the "time is money" camp and would rather spend an hour or two SEEING things than standing and waiting.

The weekday orchestra discount is the same as at the TKTS booth.

I might add that the sight lines are excellent from anywhere in that theater--both the orchestra and the balcony.

I would get them immediately through the broadwaybox.com discount codes. You will have a better choice of seats, won;t have to stand in line - and wont find tickets for the musical you want gone by the time you get to the front of it.

If you are a student in any capacity (with a student ID), Lincoln Center sells student tickets (orchestra seats!) for $20 the day of the show.

I am a bit confused about this site called broadwaybox.com. Is this a better site to use to get tickets for instance, for Wicked, than ticketmaster that I was originally told about?

Thanks.

broadwaybox.com is a source for discount codes. Check it to see if the show you are interested in seeing offers a discount.

Wicked does not. Over 5 years after its opening, it is still selling out at 100% capacity for every show. Wicked does not offer discount on tickets.

I understand. Thanks Starrs !!!!

Broadwaybox.com is only good for shows that are offering discounts. Wicked does not discount. You need to go to the official ticketseller - if they still have tickets for your date, or else try one of the resllers - like stubhub.com - and pay a premium.

Flame123 May 16th, 2010 10:14 AM

The "official ticketseller" would then be ticketmaster, nytraveler?

starrs May 16th, 2010 10:36 AM

For Wicked, yes.

If you have general questions, go to www.playbill.com, click on "Broadway" and the list will tell you if the official ticketseller is Ticketmaster or Telecharge (it depends on the show). Playbill lists all the Broadway shows.

If you go to broadwaybox.com it will list the shows that offer a discount. Click on the show and the discount will be described. You can follow their links that will take you to one of the official ticket sellers - and the discount code will be preloaded.

OR you can go to Ticketmaster or Telecharge and enter the ticket code yourself. You can even walk up to the box office (when you are there) and tell them you want to use the broadwaybox discount. Have it written down, but its my experience they already know it.

So, broadwaybox is the discount code source.
Ticketmaster and Telecharge are the ones that sell the official tickets (by phone or online).

Resellers and concierge desks and brokers are a whole 'nuther story :-). They can get you tickets to sold out shows, but there's usually a hefty extra charge for their service.

Many thanks once again for the clarifications!!
