tickets available for Yankee/Red Sox games

Just wanted to thank the person who posted the suggestion to try stubhub.com for Yankee/Red Sox tickets for Saturday night's game. We were able to get tickets! My son was thrilled to see his favorite team, the Yankees, play.

k_999_9 Oct 18th, 2004 08:41 AM

You're welcome.

When I saw the title of this post, I thought: "Oh, here's another person I have to tell about stubhub."

Glad it worked out for you.

gojacks Oct 18th, 2004 08:52 AM

Just curious, what did you pay?

havaneses Oct 18th, 2004 09:15 AM

I paid $330 per ticket for bleacher seats. I know it was a lot of money, but it still was less than what the concierge at the hotel could get them for.

gojacks Oct 18th, 2004 09:26 AM

Not too bad at all. I heard some pay $1700+ for tickets.

nytraveler Oct 18th, 2004 09:57 AM

For the Stadium decent seats (Field box between home and one of the bases - but NOT front rows - are now going for about $3000 each. And the prices seem to be rising daily. You got a great bargain.

Ryan Oct 18th, 2004 10:08 AM

Glad you didn't take my advice! BTW, at $300, if you think about in terms of only paying $16 per run, then you probably got a deal!

gojacks Oct 18th, 2004 10:17 AM

What a way to end the curse. Come back from a 3-0 hole and win it in the house that Ruth biult.

Pedro dominates tonight.

Ryan Oct 18th, 2004 10:22 AM

Gojacks,
Yep, Pedro is tough. But, over the last 3 years, Mussina has been far more effective versus the Sox then Pedro has been versus the Yankees.

I like our chances.

gojacks Oct 18th, 2004 10:28 AM

Agreed, However, that would be a great way to end this stupid curse.

Schilling will pitch game 6.

havaneses Oct 18th, 2004 10:55 AM

Ryan, you were correct though, about the language of some of the fans. The woman sitting next to my husband and son did not stop cursing, spilling beer, and disturbing everyone around her. Amazingly, it turned out she and her friends were high school teachers! Believe me I am the biggest fan of teachers, but that was quite disappointing.

k_999_9 Oct 18th, 2004 11:22 AM

I don't remember who originated this quote, but it goes something like, "You'll be making a big mistake if you assume the patrons of Fenway Park are John Updike and 30,000 Harvard professors."

Fans are fans, no matter where you go. And are you saying you encountered only one obnoxious drunk at Fenway? That would be a man-bites-dog story.

bennnie Oct 18th, 2004 11:34 AM

Went to the game last night. The only drunk escorted out of the park that I saw was a Yankee fan. Loud, swearing, spilling beer, trying hard to goad Red Sox fans into a fight. Glad security got rid of them regardless of what emblem was on their hat. Neither team's fans have a lock on decorum. But still had a ball and loved the outcome of course.

doc_ Oct 18th, 2004 11:49 AM

Did you stay for the whole game, Bennnie?

Ryan Oct 18th, 2004 12:28 PM

Before you Sox fans get too excited about Pedro, I just think you should know that I'm 6-0 with the Twix Bars.

What, you want me to explain?

Before game 2 of the Yankees-Twins Series, I joked with my office mate that I'm going to eat one of his Twix bars for luck. They won. Did it again, they won again. And again. And again. etc. etc.

They haven't lost yet when I've eaten the Twix bar and I just had one. Sure, I'll gain 10 pounds but....

doc_ Oct 18th, 2004 12:42 PM

Well then in that case it is lights out. Have you informed Vegas about the Twix incident?

14 more Twix bars and you have motched our beloved Patriots. Yes, we now know what it is like to be a Yankee fan;-)

Ryan Oct 18th, 2004 12:51 PM

Hey, if a Red Sox fan can write on ESPN.com about how a bird deficated on him and that means it's the Sox year, I can have my Twix bar theory.

BTW, I remember Rich Garces, so I'm not really banking on the Twix theory.

doc_ Oct 18th, 2004 12:58 PM

El Guapo had plenty of Twix bars.

He was the best!

doc_ Oct 19th, 2004 03:28 AM

How bout them Twix bars Ryan.

David Ortiz is Mister October!!!

Ryan Oct 19th, 2004 03:47 AM

Hey nice game. Still 3-2 and heading back to the Stadium.

Craig Oct 19th, 2004 04:55 AM

I was hoping to get a good nights sleep last night with the game starting at 5 PM but nooooo....! Looking forward to the Leiber - Schilling matchup at the Stadium tonight. Since Leiber works fast maybe Yankee fans can be celebrating by midnight.

Ryan Oct 19th, 2004 05:18 AM

I would be surprised if the game is played tonight. The forecast is for rain through tomorrow morning. I doubt either team will be all that upset about a rainout. Both bullpens could use a break.

missjanna Oct 19th, 2004 05:49 AM

Oh God tell me about it, I have tickets for tonights AND tomorrow's games and it's supposed to rain!!

Also I have an EXTRA ticket for Game 7 if anyone is interested. Considering tickets are now going for $300 a piece, maybe I should try getting rid of it on Ebay or Craigslist....any other suggestions? Or maybe there's a fan in from out of town I can load it off to......

Craig Oct 19th, 2004 05:50 AM

Hopefully, MLB won't wait until the last possible minute to make the call like they did last Friday - very unfair to the fans and not so great for the players.

al Oct 19th, 2004 07:49 AM

Don't believe the hype. Try selectaticket.com, where you can find tier reserved seats for Game 6 going for about $155 each.

nytraveler Oct 19th, 2004 10:24 AM

missjanna -

May have someone interested in your ticket. Where is the seat?

bennnie Oct 19th, 2004 12:33 PM

Okay - I have no fingernails left. I haven't slept since Saturday night. No body has done any work around here in days. My kids have been late for school twice. I've worn out my rosary beads.

Red Sox please have mercy on me and win this darn thing. I can't take it anymore.

bennnie Oct 19th, 2004 12:37 PM

Oh and I forgot to say that the Red Sox beat the Yankees in extra innings post season games twice on the same day. How cool is that.

Suzie Oct 19th, 2004 12:41 PM

Both were great games! We're rooting for the Sox!

I remarked to my DH that I think we know how Sox fans feel. Different sport, but if the Kings could only get past the Lakers they could go all the way! ;)
