Ticket for Wicked in New York
I will be in New York from July 26th until Jyly 30th.
I would like to see Wicked whilst there and have been quoted $110 on Ticketmaster. My question is should I go ahead and book it or would it be better to wait until nearer the time (May) to see if I can get a discounted ticket? I really want to see this show but have read that discounted tickets are on sale 2 months before the preferred date. Is this the case and if so what is the discount? Thanks |
I'm interested in the answer because I would be very surprised if Wicked tickets were discounted.
If you want to go, I'd definitely buy it now. |
Thanks for you reply.
I will book now as the price seems very reasonable. |
$110 is face value and Wicked is NEVER discounted. Buy it!!

If you don't own the soundtrack CD, buy it and listen to it before you see the show. It's a GREAT show, but you will enjoy it even more if you are familiar with the music.

Since it's opening in 2003, Wicked has never been discounted, and is still at close to 100% capacity each week, meaning no discounts for the foreseeable future. So, buy the tickets now, as the seating choice will only get worse as time goes on.

I have not seen ANY discounts for Wicked. That's not to say there won;t be any by summer. But - if there aren;t regular price tickets will be gone and you may be stuck with a scalper's outrageous price esp if you want Sat night.
How much do you want to see it? Are you willing to settle for another show? |
Thank you all,
Wicked is booked. |
Lest anyone else has the same question, you can count on NO discounted tickets to Wicked for quite some time into the future.

Thx very much for this info posters!
I'd like to see Mamma Mia and Spamalot during our July 4th long w/end visit. I know there are discounts now offered on Playbill, etc. that expire mid or end of March. Do you think the discounts will be available for these shows on the July 4th weekend? I'm asking because I tried to see them during T'giving w/end 2007 and the discounts all ended a day or so before that long weekend. (I ended up getting tix at regular price but the shows were cancelled due to the strike.) I'd love to see these shows but am willing to wait until May to book tix if I can get a discount. Thx for any insights - enjoy-la! |
The July 4th weekend is NOT a peak time for Broadway shows. Thus, your chances for getting discount tickets are good. I'd wait.

HowardR, thx a mint for your input! I'll be on the lookout in May/June.
Enjoy-la! |
