TI or Rio Please Help

I know Rio is off the strip- married couple early thrities in vegas for one night-looking for a good pool and nice rooms. Which hotel fits our needs? Thank you.

If it is only one night, you might as well be on the Strip at TI.
The Rio is all suites, has a few nice restaurants and good pools, but it is a short car ride away from the Strip..hardly worth the bother for a day~

Makes sense thanks for the tip S.

My dad has stayed at the TI several times and has enjoyed it alot. There is really no comparison, the Rio is fairly far off the strip and the TI is in the middle of all the action. Pool is smaller by LV standards but is just fine.

Actually there is a free shuttle operated by Harrahs that goes between Rio and Harrahs on the strip. Personally I think that the Rio would be nicer than TI. TI seems to have more kids than Rio.

TI really does not have kids anymore. The show is very adult oriented and no longer a child friendly establishment.

Being restricted to using Rio's shuttle is a hassle and wastes quite a bit of time if you are in LV for only a day, (unless you happen to hit the pick up times exactly).
Also, while the rooms at Rio are technically suites (junior suites) the rooms aren't nearly as nice as in many of the newer hotels. Rio's almost 15 years old now...older than Excalibur.

I think I'd go wth the Rio as well. Actually the Rio is only 3 yrs. older than TI. The Rio opened in 1990 and TI in 1993. The newest tower at the Rio opened in 1997. I agree that TI is more for people with families. ALso, the restaureants at the Rio are excellent. Their seafood buffet is amazing. The shuttle is really very convenient. It only takes about 5-10 minutes to get to the strip.

Not sure when you are going but we just stayed at Treasure Island the week of 3/10 and the pool was closed due to renovations. If a pool is important and you stay at TI, make sure you ask if/when it will be open.

I disagree about the comments that the TI is for families. I live fairly close to the strip and visit the TI frequently. There may have been many children in previous years but not in the last year or so. My father has stayed there 2 weeks total since Dec. and you could count the children on one hand. That is an incorrect assumption as of late. Have a good time whatever you choose.

We stay at the Rio all the time, not only for the suite rooms, but the free show while you are gambling or walking the shops is not to be missed, it changes and they throw out fake jewels, its lots of fun. Also they have one of the best buffets with international food there. Very clean and not that far off the strip if you have a car and most people rent a car while in Vegas unless they just plan to walk the strip.

Rio has some advantages in that the rooms will be larger and nicer (more so in the Masquarade Tower) than TI and there are some excellent restaurants to choose from.

However, it is true that it will be less convenient if you plan on visiting the other hotels on the strip. If you don't plan on spending a lot of time at the property in which you're staying, you might as well go with TI. If you don't plan on visiting other hotels, I would definitely opt for Rio.

Treasure Island charges $25 extra per child and the Rio charges $30 extra per child so I would assume that families will tend to go to another hotel where children can stay for free.
