Three days in Florida - Where would you visit?
In a couple of weeks, at the end of August, I will possibly have about three days to spend in Florida. We like beaches, nice long walks, and cute towns. We don't like museums, aquariums, or visiting historical buildings. We're not interested in taking any tours.
We could spend all three days in one place, or travel around. We won't be going down to the Keys, because after the three days we will be on a cruise that goes there. Where would you recommend that we should go in Florida, and what should we do there? -Michele |
In three days I would definitely want to see South Beach and the Everglades (where our favorite walk is the Anhinga Trail near the Ernest F. Cole Visitor Center).
For a good beach, you will probably want to stay in one of the towns north of Miami; however, I can't think of any town in that area that I would describe as "cute." HTtY |
OP Where does the cruise depart from? Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Cape Canaveral, Tampa?
|
Well, "cute towns" definitely does NOT include anywhere along South Beach. Cocoanut Grove MIGHT be more to your liking (stay well AWAY from Viscaya given your dislikes above).
Hollywood might intrigue you with its Beach Walk. Delray Beach also comes to mind. This assumes you are departing from South Florida obviously. When this "possibly" becomes "absolutely" perhaps you'll provide some more info. |
We need to know where you start your cruise before we can help you!

The cruise starts in Miami, but I'll be driving down from NJ.

If you want to stop in a "cute town" in Florida on the drive between Miami and NJ, Fernandia Beach, Amelia Island, is such a place.

Anastasia Island - just outside of St. Augustine.
Quiet, beautiful beaches yet very close to the oldest and very fun and beautiful, city in the nation. |
