Threat Level raised--TSA
|
I think I just over heard that its been raised to red, not orange.
|
Red for flights originating in the UK to the United States
Orange for flights operating within the U.S. At least that's how I read the article. |
stw - That is also what I got from the article.
|
No liquids, gels, or toothpaste type items in carryon. Prescriptions only if the name matches that on the boarding pass.
God Bless All Travelers! |
joan - I was just coming to post the same. Apparently the restrcitions on those traveling to or from the UK (whether or not the US is on the itinerary) are much, much more stringent. More info on the new US rules:
http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/threat-change.shtm One thing I don't understand is how they'll know if you took liquids on the flight that were purchased in the secure area. I'm not suggesting people should try to sneak them on, but it doesn't mention hand-inspection of all bags at the gate, so I'm not sure. |
Now that I've had a chance to digest what I have read...
I am chilled! Thankfully they have spoilt this apparent attempt, but it does leave us once again unsettled. Our sister and nephew arrived this week from London, however our BIL is yet to travel. Yes, God please bless all travelers. |
Jim, apparently there will be some kind of search in the boarding area:
"Beverages purchased in the sterile area must be consumed before boarding because they will not be permitted onboard the aircraft" |
seetheworld,
I too am chilled to the bone. My sister is scheduled to fly out of London to the US tomorrow. I won't be able to stop worring until she is safely home! |
Time for the Govt to start listening in on suspected terrorists phone calls. Tap those lines, tap those lines, tap those lines!
|
Watching and listening to the local Chicago news this am...
Huge backups at O'Hare getting through security. No flights are or will be delayed. People will miss their flights. To this I say: That's a shame but it is a a fact of life today. Sure some will be disrupted on their travel...sorry about that. To the publics credit, the interviews have mostly reflected the above. As can be expected, there are a few whiners. |
Jim and Joan - yes, I heard report on NPR this morning that indicated we should expect (another) inspection of all carry-ons at the gate area. Another delay to take into account, but understandable.
|
I dropped my spouse at SEA at 6 this morning for her 7 AM flight (NW, SEA-MSP.) She just phoned from her seat on the plane (ETD now 7:30 but she's skeptical) to say that "chaos" doesn't begin to describe the scene at the airport. Obviously the majority of early AM pax had not heard the overnight news and there was great separation anxiety as people were having their perfume, lipsticks, mouthwash, toothpaste etc. confiscated.
This is just one of those days. I expect things will be hugely better by tomorrow when people have figured out the scoop on packing. Three passes through LHR and LGW coming up over the next three weeks for us. Oy. |
Mitt Romney our Gov. said there will be 2 inspections total..One at security and one in Boarding area.
No makeup I hear now you cannot bring!no lip gloss for us women! I ll need 3 checked in bags at this point! Ill stuff clothes in the carryon. No shampoos, gels, cremes, suntan oils--all for the Caribbean trip I am going on in 48 hrs! |
they just banned cell phones too.
|
my husband is flying boston to baltimore today at noon. he had to check his carryon as no liquids/containers allowed at all on the plane. he hasn't heard yet if he can bring on his laptop, blackberry, etc.
