Thoughts on this Portland, OR hotel?
Hi everyone,
after a short break, Hikrguy and I are picking up the planning again for our late June-early July trip to Portland and environs, Roseburg, and Olympic National Park. We are thinking about staying at the Hotel Rose in Portland, at SW Morrison Street across from Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Before we hit the button I wanted to check with the Portland experts if there is anything to flag this, or if it is convenient/good area. On Google maps it looks like it is on the edge of the downtown area, which sounds nice. Comments/thoughts? thank you! |
As a local, I have not stayed there, but know the location. It is in a fine location, an easy walk to everything downtown etc. I would not hesitate to stay there if reviews were good.

If you want the Waterfront Park, it is a great location.
The Courtyard is a little cheaper in the middle of downtown. Courtyard is ranked #23 and Hotel Rose is ranked #29. |
thanks mms and tom!
it gets positive reviews on TA -- though they do mention there is sometimes noise at night. I'll let hikrguy know. thanks! |
hikrchick--I drive past there fairly often. It is not in a noisy area as far as the city goes, but maybe it has thin walls/window issues? The location is quiet, and is right across from the park, but a short walk to the heart of the city. Hopefully this helps you a bit:)

TripAdvisor has a listing of the 10 best boutique hotels in Portland. I'm going to check it out. Possibly planning our first trip.
