Thoughts on these Beauty and the Beast seats

Hello. Any thoughts on $50 tickets Orch.U 107-112. My feeling is to grab them, but wondering if they're too far back. Is that possible? Also, my 7 year old would be the only one who needs a seat booster. They provided them for my kids for The Lion King. Do they do this also for Beauty and the Beast? Thanks.

I hate seats that are way back under the mezzanine. In the Lunt-Fontaine, row U is 11 rows back under, which I find to have horrible acoustics. Have you checked on a possibility of front mezzanine seats? Any of those five rows would actually put you closer to the stage, and offer you better visability and sound in my opinion.

For that price, you're not like to get seats much better. While Patrick's suggestion is a good one, it probably won't work, as those front-mezzanine seats would not be available at that half-price rate!

I was hoping you'd reply Patrick! When I checked earlier today, believe it or not, these tickets come up as both best available, full price, and also with a discount.I could not find anything discounted with front mezzanine, which I would prefer. Thanks for your input. The price is great, but , then again, I wouldn't want anything to take away from the enjoyment of the show.

Thanks for your thoughts too, Howard. I'm wondering if I might have better luck with discount front mezzanine week night performances during the summer. What are your thoughts on availability for that, or am I just dreaming. I'm being a real cheapskate on these tickets, I know. I can't stand the thought of paying full price when I might have a chance to pay 1/2. By the way, I find you and Patrick to be so informative, and helpful on this website. Thanks.

smj, first of all, I think the chances are not that great for getting discount tickets for the front mezzanine any time of the year unless a show is really doing badly at the box office. After all, they are prime seats!
Secondly, it's too early to find discount tickets for summer performances.
You didn't say what performance those U-row tickets are for.
PS: I'm not as negative as Patrick is about those seats. And remember, when looking for a bargain, you can't expect to get the best seats or even close to the best! Compromise is perhaps the key word!

We're going to Beauty and the Beast next month with seats in the front mezzanine. They were a bit discounted - I got them with a promotion code from theatremania.com. There were a lot of blackout dates, and now I get a lot of e-mail from them, but it's easily deleted.

Howard, not sure what you mean by "you did not say what performance those U row tickets are for". They're for a Friday night in March. Is that what you meant? Anyway, would you go for them?

Patrick Feb 20th, 2004 07:48 PM

I went to the ticketmaster site, and used the code BTMA4 as listed on Theatremania. For Friday night March 12 I found tickets in row B (second row) of the front mezzanine. They are $ 65.00 but normally top price tickets. I tried a weeknight and found the seats in the same location for the same price. Frankly I'd much rather pay $15 more each for tickets in that row than 10 rows further back downstairs! You may be having a little more difficulty finding seats because you need 6 of them. You might try calling and checking on splitting up 4 and 2 or 3 and 3 if that would give you better seats.

Correction to what I said above. When I found seats in front mezzanine for the week nights instead of weekends, those same seats in row B were $55, not $65. I found them for both weeknights I checked. And when I did "best available" instead of "mezzanine" I found 6 seats in Row P at $65 for Friday, March 12. That's 5 rows closer than those U seats. But I'd still take the second row of the front mezzanine. Seems there are lots of good seats available.

Patrick, good idea about splitting up. I hadn't thought about it, but it would work. Thanks!

I may suffering from information overload, but, if I understand all the overnight postings, then I would grab those $65 front mezzanine seats! And, I think I would make sure they are NOT on the extreme left or right.
