Is the snorkling best on BI out of all the islands? Last year I did'nt get in enough snorkling time @Maui.I sure plan on it this year!

Snorkeling was the best I have ever seen. Turtles are everywhere!! Unlike Christie, I didn't love the volcano. It is neat, but not my thing. I liked snorkeling the best.
The Hilton was a great resort too.

Agree with onthego, snorkeling is great along the south Kona coast (boat trips: Fair wind II, SeaQuest) or next to Place of Refuge at Honaunau Bay. Further north, also enjoyed snorkeling at Kahalu`u Beach park, though parking is limited

The BI is always my first first choice in Hawaii because I love the diversity of it. There are white sand beaches, black sand beaches, even a green sand beach. It has vast stretches of desert-like areas, and tropical rainforests full of waterfalls and gorges. If you wanted to, you could see an active volcano and go snorkeling in the same day. The BI has touristy Kailua-Kona on one side, work-a-day Hilo on the other, and cattle ranches or coffee farms in-between. I like the people and the ambiance.
