Thinking about a Spring Break in NM...

Hello,
My roommate and I (along with our boyfriends) are considering taking a roadtrip from Texas or Oklahoma to New Mexico for our Spring Break in March (which happens to fall the week after most people's). We want to take a trip to somewhere we can drive to with SNOW. We'd prefer to go to New Mexico because we usually go to Colorado to ski. We aren't planning on skiing this time, but we'd like to sled, snow tube, etc...just generally enjoy the snow. I was just wondering if somewhere in New Mexico would be a good place for this sort of trip, or if there's somewhere we're overlooking. Also, to get to places with snow activities, will we need lift passes?

Thank you!

Think Taos, Red River, Angel Fire -- all in northern NM. Late March could be tricky for snow, but there should be enough for what you want to do.

None of these places has a hot, swinging nightlife.

Ruidoso NM which is more in the SW area of state, may be good too.

One last thought -- Durango CO isn't all that much farther and has lots of great outdoor activities and much more of a night life.

Hope this helps...

Thank you! I forgot to mention that we are not partiers. In case that factors in.

In that case, all of the places I menitoned should work well for you.

I vote for Taos. We live in the Panhandle of Texas and go over now and again to relax. The Taos ski area does not allow snow boarding, tubing, etc., but there are several ski places around there that do. There are neat galleries, a nice trail at the Gorge, and lovely places to stay. We love the Casa Gallina (casagallina.net). It's everything that's advertised and more. He has a great casa for couples. Enjoy!
