Things to do with little ones in GA?

We are passing through GA this October (heading to NC) with a 4 and 2 year old. What can we see or do with little ones in case we extend our stay in GA? Is there a "must see" for them?

Not sure if the children would be too young - but Atlanta has the world's largest zoo downtown!

You shouldn't miss the Ga Aquarium. IT IS AWESOME!!!! If you do the Aquarium, you need to purchase tickets for a certain time. If you are on a schedule I would go to the Ga Aquarium website and purchase tickets for the exact time and day you want. I'd skip the zoo- not a real fan of it. It's old, dirty and in a horrible part of town.

We were just there in July on a 2 day stop-over on our way to visit friends in S.C. Visit Stone Mountain Park and take the Sky Ride to the top, CNN (not so much for the litte ones), World of Coke & Georgia Aquarium. Georgia Aquarium is particularly kid-friendly from other aquariums I've been to in Charleston & San Diego. Your don't have to purchase tickets ahead of time anymore -at least we didn't.

I don't think the 2 and 4-year-olds would enjoy World of Coke. My nephews enjoyed the Atlanta Zoo at those ages.

Where in Georgia? It is a pretty big state.

There are the mountains, the city, and the coast.

We're passing thru from FL to NC, so we'll be going thru Atlanta and going up through the NE mountains. So anything South of Atlanta to the FL border all the way North to the mountains. We just wont be going to the coast or too far West.

Thanks for everyone's replies so far!

My son's favorite stop is the Bass Pro shop 30 minutes north of downtown ATL on I-85. It has a waterfall, huge fish tank, climbing wall and tons of boats and four-wheetlers to climb on. Best of all there is no admissions charge. It is part of a mall so you can eat at the food store and do a little shopping for yourself.

atlanta has a lot of great kids activities- I really liked running around stone mountain with a bottle of bubbles when I was little.

There is also a puppetry museum and a museum that's for kids near olympic park.

i also found this great list: http://travelskoot.com/skoots/view/1...ids-in-atlanta

Well, if you are downtown (for the Aquarium or other) they will LOVE running and playing in the Olympic ring fountains.

Just be sure to have dry clothes ready when you put them back in the car :-)
