Things to do near Ramona

Will be staying for a week in February in a time-share at Ramona. Interested in any points of interest, activities etc to make up some day trips from there.

Here is a list of things not too far from Ramona.

1. Visit the Palamor Telescope
2. Visit Warner Hot Springs
3. Visit Borrego State Park
4. Visit the Wild Animal Park
5. Visit North County Fair (large indoor shopping mall).
6. Visit Julian up in the mountains.
7. There is also gambling nearby at Indian reservations but this is not our thing. You can get details in Ramona.
8. Visit the winery near Temecula.
9. Visit the Lawance Welk complex for possible intertainment and food.
The above are all withing about a 40 mile radius. If you want to go as far as San Diego this opens the horizons considerable.

Romona is a quiet small town in the back country of San Diego County. They have some nice small family type restraurants there particularly for breakfast.

The above message has some good suggestions. The Barona Casino is pretty closeby. I go there all the time. San Diego falls within the 40 mile radius. You may have a problem with weather. February is usally the worst month of the year. You can have snow in Julian and Palomar Mountain. BTW, I live less than 20 miles from the t/s where you will be at.

Hi I've lived in Temecula for l8 years and can vouch for the wineries and Old Town Temecula. If you like Antique shops its great. There is a beef jerkey shop -open on weekends and Friday that is wonderful. Home made. You can book a hot air ballon ride here too! Julian is my favorite place to go. Old gold mining town who specializes in Antique stores, wood burning stoves in every other store and hot apple pie! Hmm.. The snow in Feb is usually just right for a saucer ride down a hill! make sure you buy a gallon of cherry-apple cider or have a warm mug of cinnamon apple cider. E mail me if you have any more questions.
Oh, one more thing- The Pechanga Indian reservation is in Temecula on the South side near the Hwy 79 exit. I haven't gambled there yet but to go is in experience in itself. We took my nephew from Holland there (he had never seen a real Indian) and there was a 6' tall chief complete with turquoise and headband with his arms folded across his chest as he surveyed the ca-chinking of all those machines. We like to eat in the restaurant. They serve great meals or an all you can eat buffet. If you get there before 6 (or is it 5 pm?) you can eat for $3.99. A steal!
