things to do in new york in Dec.

What are the BEST (not too "touristy") things to do in New York City for four days...in early December?

Well, let's see . . .

museums
Broadway
eat/drink
dance
live music
shop
tour

That should jump-start your research.

everyone has different things they like to do! If you are me the best things are shopping, going to a few museums, eating at Babbo, Craft and WD50 and seeing a show on Broadway.

We'd try to see as many shows as possible, don't care about the shopping.

Craft!
We're going there next week - not been there nor done it.

What's not to miss?

I regretted not seeing more shows when I was there...so I second the "see shows" post!! :)

Shows are great - but NYC has some of the best - and most interesting/unique museums in the world. IMHO everyone should do at least part of the Met and the Ellis Island Immigartion Museum. (For the Met look at the web site beforehand to pick out a couple of departments that interest you most - otherwise you could spend a week there.)

There are tons of others worth your time depending on your interests., But IMHO time spent doing any one of them is worth about 10X that spent shopping (esp if you do the Macy's/Bloomies route - stores that you can find in any mall).
