See my trip report on the WTC site. You might consider it, and it would motivate you to explore an area outside of midtown.

Sorry - be aware that most prices quoted do not include tax - which is 18% in NYC.
========

18% ??? Wow, it sure went up since I've bought groceries, just about 1hour ago!

For that selfie with the Statue of Liberty, you can take the free Staten Island ferry. This is a commuter boat but if you go during non-rush hours, you can have a nice view. You have to get off the boat in Staten Island and come back through the entrance to ride back to Manhattan.

The hotel tax is actually 14.75%, plus a nightly room fee of something like $3.50 (it might depend on the room rate). (whereas most food in grocery stores isn't taxed at all).

Sorry a little late on the reply. But WTC - world trade center. It's located in lower manhattan. There is a 9/11 memorial outside and a museum inside also you can now visit the observatory upstairs in the new ONE WORLD OBSERVATORY to get a full view of the city. this is quite nice but expensive I think tickets are about $32.

The WTC museum is $24 for adults. the memorial outside is free of course. I definitely recommend the museum!

I don't know if I'd recommend Top of the Rock or Empire State the lines are quite long but if it's something you really wanna see then I'd do top of the rock because you can get a good view of the entire city including empire state.

Depending on how many days you are here you should definitely visit either the MET or NATURAL HISTORY if you are into museums.

Since you'll be around times sq you can easily walk to korea town on 32nd street. or take the subway one stop away. Although there is good food and drinks here there isn't much else around 32nd unless of course you plan to see empire state.

With only 3 days I would probably skip the museums if you want to explore all the more popular locations.

Central park starts from the 59th st and goes all the way up to 110th st. In my opinion you can either visit central park from around Columbus Circle area. Or what I enjoy doing more is seeing it from the west 72nd side around the strawberry field area where you will also see the john lennon imagine memorial.

Hope you have an awesome stay in my city!!!

I live in NYC but I just went to a conference at the Skyline Hotel. It's on 10th Avenue/50th Street in Manhattan. I met someone who was staying there and the room cost her $223/night. Which I think is quite a deal in Manhattan. Perhaps you would like to check it out.
