Things to do in Las Vegas
I feel embarrassed even asking this question but can anyone recommend things to do in LasVegas or websites NOT related to gambling? Thinking of going there in February with 2 couples who are looking forward to gambling but I'm not. What are some things to do there? I can't think of more than attending shows at night.. Thanks - Sophia

You'll find lots to see in LV without gambling. Some are day trips for which you'll need a car, but I find visiting the different casinos and exploring their themes lots of fun. I started out a non-gambler 15 years ago, but I've learned to love it. Didn't take me long. If it's the money loss you don't like, there are many nickel and dime slots around.
As several of us on this forum usually advise, check out the website www.lvol.com and ask their discussion board this question. It's been asked on that forum quite a few times, and I'm sure you will get a very complete answer, perhaps in the archives of the board. Have fun. It's an amazing city, LV, and I hope you'll enjoy it. Most do.
Sophia

There's plenty to do in Vegas besides gambling. Me and Hubby went for the first time in October, and we are not big gamblers. We had sooo much fun we can't wait to go back. We were there a total of 3 1/2 days. We like riding the rides. NY NY has a roller coaster (scary). We did the Big Shot at the Stratosphere (FUN!!!) We also did some of the simulator rides at Caesars Palace. They also have some at the Luxor. They have the Coca Cola tour (we missed that one). Site seeing in all the hotels is a MUST!!! Do the Eiffel Tower at the Paris hotel. We did the Gondala ride at the Venetian. Both BEAUTIFUL HOTELS!!! Go to Bellagio and see the water show during the day and at night!!! They also offer day trips to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam. We did the helicopter ride. Lots of Shows. If you can see MYSTERE at Treasure Island. EXCELLENT SHOW!!!! Top rated in Vegas. Also I hear "O" is Excellent too. They were sold out, it's at the Bellagio. There is plenty to do in Vegas. We didn't even get to see everything..
Have a Blast!!
Jan

Sophia,

There is so much to do in Vegas that even a non-gambler can find many things to do.
First of all, like most of the other posts, there are many shows to see like Mystere, O, Sig & Roy, etc.
Also, many hotels have things to watch such as the erupting volcano in front of the Mirage and the Treasure Island pirate show.
Caesars Palace is really something to see on the inside. If you have the $$$$ to burn, many top-knotch designer stores and you must see the garden inside--just beautiful.
Go to Paris and do the Eiffel Tower tour. Just breathtaking at night.
The Stratosphere Tower has a roller coaster and Big Shot on top...not for the fait at heart!
The Rio's Voodoo Lounge is awesome! Although it is off the main strip, you have to go there and drink on the roof at night...nothing like it!
The Hoover Dam interior tour was great...it is amazing how they built that Dam!
You MUST take a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon...the price is steep but it is SO WORTH IT!!!
Also, there is a mall on the next block over from Treasure Island if you just want to pick up somethings you forgot or just want to purchase!
NYNY has a rollercoaster ride although we did not go on it I hear that it is pretty fun!
There is also Sig & Roy's Secret Garden at the Mirage and the Dolphin observatory. You can also check out the white tigers...follow the signs through the Mirage casino.
Check out the fountains at Bellagio at night...really, really neat!
I hope this helps you out! Have a great time and if you have any other questions, send me an e-mail!

If you are into nature, get a car and drive north to the Valley of Fire. As a resident I can tell you that the scenery is absolutely spectacular. Also, a short drive to Red Rock Canyon for sightseeing or a one hour drive to the top of Mt. Charleston to play in the snow can be fun. Currently, the IMAX theater at Luxor is showing the newly released Disney's Fantasia and I hear it's breathtaking. If you like motion simulators, don't miss the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. It's the best in town. Also, I thoroughly enjoy Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum at the Venetian. Bring a camera and pose with your favorite celebrities! Also eat-eat-eat! Skip the cheap places and try some of the new upscale buffets like the Bellagio buffet, or the Seafood buffet at the Rio. They'll cost you around $25 but they are worth it. Enjoy!

Check out vegas.com message boards and read the trip reports. You will have enough information to spend a month in Vegas and still not have seen and done everything nongambling. My husband and I were just there for Christmas and had another wonderful time.
