Things to do in Denver?
Can you name the top three things you'd do while visiting the Denver area?
Many thx |
1. Rocky Mountain National Park
2. Denver Museum of Nature and Science 3. a tie between Denver Zoo/Brewery tours/Denver Art Museum/Denver Botanic Gardens. Of course, it completely depends what time of year you go. If you go in the winter, throw in skiing/snowboarding at Breckenridge. If you go in the fall, it would be driving I-70 to Independence Pass to see the aspens. |
We drove to Colorado Springs and went to the Air Force Academy -the chapel made the whole trip worth it! We also enjoyed the Olympic Training Center. Later in the week we drove to Georgetown and did the old train ride and town filled with lots of history. Hope it's cooler when you go!

A daytrip up MT EVANS, leaving early in the a.m. so we can see the wildlife...one of our favorite places!Picnic by the lake on the way down.

If you mean in or near the immediate Denver vicinity, I'd suggest a concert at Red Rocks (preferably Santana or Dave Mathews, but anyone there is wonderful), lodging in Cherry Creek at the new Marriott or in downtown at the Hotel Monaco or HotelTeatro, and dinner at Larimer/LoDo/Cherry Creek.
Now, if you have time to travel into the mountains, that opens up a whole other world of possibilities! And what time of year? How far from Denver will you go? Do you need to spend nights in Denver? |
What's in the immediate Denver area. Staying 2 days with no car - Aug 6/7

Where in Denver will you be staying. It's a pretty big place, but can I assume you'll be either downtown(Lodo) or Cherry Creek? There is a good bus and light-rail system so if you get information on routes/times you'll be able to get around easily.
For Denver: Walking tours downtown The US Mint 16th Street Mall State Capitol Civic Center Park ( and don't miss the REI store) Denver Art Museum Denver Pavilions (for shopping) Larimer Square( Denver's oldest street with a number of Victorian buildings, shops and restaurants) Coors Field (for a ballgame if the Rockies are in town) Six Flags Elitch Gardens (amusement park) Cherry Creek Trail( for walking, biking, roller-blading) Denver Museum of Science and Nature Denver Zoo Denver Botanical Gardens Colorado History Museum Molly Brown House Museum These are just a few of the possibilities, and I'm sure I've left out some. It just depends on your interests. |
I like the Tattered Cover book store (I'm a book store junkie)... and down near coors field I walk around the "history of the ball" ... I'm not quite sure why it always tickles me.
