Fodor's Travel Talk Forums - Trip Report Things to Do in Austin, Texas

Just got back from a nice weekend in Austin, Texas! It is by far one of my favorite cities since it has such a wide variety of both city and outdoor activities to take part in. I am from Dallas, so getting to Austin is just a 3-4 hour drive depending on the traffic, and I have taken quite a few trips down in the past few years.

I wanted to make the most of my time there and try some new restaurants and things while visiting, so I did a little research on the Fathom Way to Go (http://fathomaway.com/guides/usa/texas/austin/) site first. I would say the Best Day Ever post is pretty spot on, and I would recommend going to South Congress and also checking out some of the restaurants on Second Street in the downtown area which are both in their guide.

We did some hiking in the lost creek area, which was really pretty, and the creeks were full since it just rained. There were tons of people swimming and tubing in the creek as well.

I am planning on going back for another weekend in another month or so, so if you have any other things I should add to my list, I would love to hear your suggestions as well.
