things to do around so. calif with kids
Any suggestions as to what I can do with a toddler in Southern CA? We will be staying in Palm Desert at the Marriott, and don't mind travelling to see the sites. We have 6 days. <BR> <BR>Thanks, D

LegoLand in Carlsbad (a northern beach suburb of San Diego County)might be an idea with a toddler. Or how about the first trip to Disneyland? A young child might also enjoy seeing the animals at the Living Desert right there in Palm Desert. There's also the tram in Palm Springs (though the height of a tram might be scary for a little one). There's also a children's museum in the desert, but I'm not sure how young they cater to. And of course, just spending the day splashing in the hotel pool will probably suffice to keep a toddler entertained. Have fun!

We had our 2 young children in San Diego last summer. They loved Legoland, the Zoo, Seaworld and a few days at Disneyland. So Cal is a terrific place for young kids!

Greetings: <BR> <BR>We are local PS residents and members of "CMOD"---Children's Museum of the Desert in Rancho Mirage. There are definitely things there that would interest a toddler---hands on exhibits, crafts, dress-up, etc---, very kid friendly place. <BR> <BR>I just went up the tram today. The snowplay is great right now with all the recent precipitation. You can rent inner tubes in Long Valley at the top of the tram. My three-year old had a blast riding with me on a fairly gentle slope. <BR> <BR>Agree with the Living Desert. Lots of visual stimulation and animals that toddlers enjoy. Also one of the world's largest outdoor G scale model train exhibits. Another very kid-oriented place. Marriot Desert Springs is a great resort. I am almost certain they have a "kids club" sort of program. <BR> <BR>I have another idea for a very different and fun excursion, but it would mean traveling into L.A., about a two-hour drive each way. Not sure if you are into that. <BR> <BR>Have fun.

PS Local - What's your idea for LA? Even if D doesn't want to go the distance some of the rest of us with toddlers might be interested.

Yes I'm going there with toddlers too. What's the idea?

The Bob Baker Marionette Theatre. Younger kids *LOVE* this place. The decor and show is childike, imaginative and almost surreal. Chances are you have seen this company's marionettes in kid videos before, e.g. the Baby Songs series ("watcha witcha whiz?!") that drives you to the brink of insanity after the hundred thousandth viewing. <BR> <BR>Unlike another unnamed attraction in Anaheim, going here won't break you either. The links below have the address. <BR> <BR>http://cwire.com/burbank/local/kidsfun.html <BR> <BR>http://losangeles.urbanbaby.com/play/theater_cont.html
