Things to do and places to stay in Myrtle Beach

My wife and I are planning a spring trip to Myrtle Beach and would like to hear from anyone who has been there about good places to stay, restaurants and things to do that are NOT golf related.

Myrtle Beach is my most favorite beach in the US. We usually stay at a hotel called the Roxanne - only caters to adults and families - no loud young people. Clean, moderately priced, on the beach, two swimming pools, and six blocks from the pavillion. Within walking distance are many shops and night spots such as Studebakers - a must go and see at Myrtle Beach. Restaurant row is short drive - be sure to visit a Calabash restaurant - one price and all the crab legs you can eat, plus many other types of seafood. If the sun gets too hot, drive back across the bridge to Waccamaw Mall - nine football fields long of name brand outlet stores. Also, try dinner at the Yachtsman's restaurant (can't remember the name of it), but it is on a pier out over the ocean behind the restaurant. Great food and full view of the setting sun. Entertainment some evenings. If you go to Studebakers - call and find out when free t-shirt night is. If you get there, before nine, you get a $12 shirt free. Great music, too.

My family has stayed at MANY places but the Beach Cove Resort North Myrtle is by far our favorite. They have several pools, a giant lazy river and much more poolside lounging space than most hotels.Very convient garage parking. Rooms are either junior suites or 2/3 bdrm condos. Resort is near the Barefoot Landing shopping and restaurant area. Boardwalk at the Beach is also a new complex that is full of shops and entertainment.

In addition to things mentioned in other responses, don't miss the shows. The group "Alabama" has a theater there, also Ronny Milsap, the Gatlin Brothers, Legends in Concert and two or three others. Even if you don't love country music, which many of them are, they're fun to go to. They have informational brochures in all the hotel lobbies. Don't know how you're getting there but none of them are actually on the beach so you'll need a car. Have fun and stay away from those golf courses! You'll find it's really easy.

I HAVE BEEN TO MYRTLE BEACH MANY TIMES. MY FAVORITE PLACE TO STAY IS OCEAN FORREST VILLA'S RESORT.IT IS ON THE BEACH, IT IS CENTRALLY LOCATED IN A MORE RESIDENTIAL AREA AND IT IS QUIET.
tHERE ARE MANY THINGS TO DO AND SEE. THERE IS A LOT OF SHOPPING, THEATERS, AND YOU CAN ALSO TAKE A DAY TRIP TO CHARLESTON AS IT IS ONLY ABOUT 75 80 FROM MYRTLE BEACH.
