Thin at Cafe Sabarsky NYC
Hello, sweetie darlings.
I am meeting an old, old friend and dear son at Cafe Sabarsky on Wednesday. It is at the Neu Gallerie on UES. Have any of you been there? What is a really fabulous dessert to order? Thin |
Hi Thin,
I love Cafe Sabarsky. Most recently (last month), I had the Topfentorte (Viennese quark cheesecake) which was lovely. |
Thank you. I can ONLY HAVE ONE DESSERT so I wanted to make the right choice.
Two desserts and Thin turns to Fat. Thingorjus |
The right choice is critical when it comes to desserts. The wrong choice can ruin a day. Have a wonderful lunch and report back on dessert.
|
Life is short, be sure to have dessert first! L'Chaim!

Well since you're watching your girlish figure, perhaps the flourless chocolate cake - who needs flour with their chocolate anyway?. Or the apple struedal. It could count as one of your daily requirements of fruit - right? Yup, I think either would be healthy choices with a dollop of real whipped cream rather than some processed calorieless crud.

I had a great dessert there, but honestly don't remember what it was. What I do remember was the best coffee I've ever had in NYC! Not since Vienna have I had such wonderful coffee.

unflowered chocolate and the best cup of joe in NYC???
Where can I get a good deal on a boutique hotel not in Time Square..................... Enjoy Thin~ |
mmm cafe sabarsky . . when I was last up there at the end of June it was on a Friday, and they had the Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte - the dark chocolate cake with cherries - available Friday thru Mondays . . . sorry you're going on a Weds.
My husband loves the hazelnut and chocolate cake (klimttorte) and my son adores the sachertorte and the flourless chocolate cake. So I usually get to try at least 2 other treats - and I like the kirschtorte best . . .(but the others are pretty great too . . .) mmm cafe sabarsky . . . I assume you've been to Wallse? |
If they have the Fresh Pea Soup please try it. I swooned over it. I would rather have that soup than any dessert!
|
Every dessert I've had there was good-just depends on your idea of perfect-chocolate, or nuts, or fruit, etc.

Ask the server. It changes depending on week and the baker's whim. But figure you cannot do badly.
Sabarsky is the only place I go back to every time I go to NYC, being a person who insists (usually) on not repeating experiences when there are great new experiences to be had. One of the most civilized places on this side of the pond. |
Hi thinny, give us your report.
love, carine. |
Well, it took me ALL DAY to access this site.
Obviously, this site is being brought to you by Walmart or some other dreadful company. My Gucci, my maid, Esmeralda, could do a better job fixing this site with a pair of plier and a toilet plunger. But, I will, my sweetie darlings, report back to you on my afternoon at Cafe Sabarsky. I just hope I don't get a waiter fired. Like last time. Thingorjus |
Waiting eagerly for your report......
|
Well, sweetie darling, I had the Mozarttorte and cafe latte and both were very delicious. That coffee was just marvelous.
Lots uf UES matrons having lunch. One woman had a vintage Kenneth Jay Lane ring that I would have killed for. It was a beautiful day in NYC this past Wednesday. Beautiful. We took a stroll up to the Delacorte and back. So many tourists! I felt strange speaking English! Thin |
What's the attire?
|
Oh, the attire is casual. Most women were wearing pant/blouse skirt/blouse combo.
Most men were dressed in khakis and golf shirt or short-sleeve buttondown. The cafe is NOT over-the-top fancy. Try to get a booth. The marble-top cafe tables with wrought-iron chairs are not the most comfortable things to sit at. Thin |
