I just wanted to get some advice for my summer vacation that i am planning this July 18-26. Here it is... I am planning a family trip for our two boys age 5yrs and 7yrs. We plan to leave San Jose, Ca early morning on July 18th and head down to So.Cal. I'm planning on buying the City Pass: 1day Disneyland,1day Universal Studios and 2day SeaWorld., so my questions is:
Which one should we go to first, just so that we dont back track our way because we plan to go to Las Vegas also from July 24-26. So if we leave San Jose,CA on July 18, early morning @ 4:30am to SoCal, which should we vist 1st, 2nd, 3rd out of the three theme parks and then leave go to Las Vegas. I want the 3rd Theme park to be the one that has the easiest access to heading to Las Vegas...then from Vegas we head back home to San Jose...........Thank You, i hope someone can help me......ALSO WE WILL BE DRIVING for this trip!

Sea World is in San Diego, Universal Studios in Hollywood, and Disneyland in Anaheim. These are not in the same city, as you should know because you live in Calif. So I don't know what "City Pass" you can get.

The I-15 starts just east of San Diego and goes to Las Vegas, but San Diego to LV is a longer drive than LA to Las Vegas.

BigRuss....yes I know that that these ThemeParks are not all in the same city, so that's why i'm on here asking for some advice on what parks to visit first......DUH!!!

What a misnomer that "City" pass is. It's a nice concept, but you mentioned three of the five, not all five. Will it still be cost-effective? Multiple days in Sea World means probably yes, but . . .

It's probably shorter to go to Hollywood, Anaheim, San Diego and then Las Vegas instead of from your home, all the way to SD, then San Diego-Anaheim-Hollywood-Las Vegas. I-15 angles northeast from San Diego and avoids central LA, therefore the trip from SD to LV is under 5 hours, LA to LV is just over 4 hours, but the LA-SD trip is nearly two.

Yes, really it just depends but I believe I would go LA - Anaheim, SD and then head over to Vegas from SD.

Nobody has asked yet, but why are you going to Las Vegas? First of all, there isn't anything there for your kids, and secondly, it will be blazing hot in July. There is so much more to see and do in San Diego!

I agree about doing Sea World last -- and also agree -- are you SURE you want to go to Vegas in late July? Especially w/ a young child? You won't be able to spend any time outside - even hanging by the pool would be pretty much unbearable most of the day.

He can't go in the casinos and there is only so much you can do w/ a 7 yo. Now, you will get posters who say Vegas is great for kids. Yes there are some things for children, but you are talking about July! Aren't there other, more family-friendly places you'd like to see?

Yes, I do agree Vegas will be extremely hot in July and not much to do with the kids. My kids were actually born in Vegas,so we are use to the heat. We have family out in Vegas, that's they reason why we are going to visit them. since we havent seen them since we moved from Vegas, its time to drop by and say 'hi" ....

Ok - visiting family is the ONLY good reason to take a child to LV in July :)
