THeHotel-Mandalay Bay
 

I booked it for 3 nights starting 10/28 with a nice deal of $89 for THESuite. Then I started reading some reviews and there are a few that talk about the rooms being dirty and not what they thought they would be.

Has anyone had any recent experience here?

Have stayed at tHe Hotel twice...Oct. '08 and Sept. '09...it's a simply fabulous hotel...all rooms are 2 room suites with 2 bathrooms, wet bar, living room area with plasma TV. The bath is great...a huge walk in shower that I loved. everything is extremely well appointed...a lovely room. They are more than I thought they would be and would definitely return...ask for a corner room - they're even nicer and larger.

Agree with gwtwnd, I could not recommend this hotel more. My room was incredibly clean and staff members could be seen scrubbing surfaces and shampooing carpets all over the property. I'm usually there once a year. Never a problem.

What is the difference between THEhotel and Mandalay Bay? I see a photo of THEhotel as a tower adjacent to another building labeled Mandalay Bay but what is the difference with the interior (i.e. the rooms)? Also, are smoking rooms near non smoking rooms? Otherwise, anyone know of any smoke-free accommodations on the strip?

THEHotel is a separate tower from the rest of Mandalay Bay. It's run as it's own hotel with it's own registration desk, etc. The difference between the 2 is that THEHotel is all suites. Its been a few years since I stayed at either property, so things may have changed, but the style difference between the rooms was that Mandalay Bay had typical decor whereas THEHotel had a contemporary feel. For a better idea, check out the room pictures on their web site.

Not sure on the smoking vs non-smoking rooms, but generally speaking, hotels try to keep them on separate floors. You could probably find out for sure by calling or emailing them.
