Thanks for helping with my hotel (Excelsior)..now I want to look up what is playing on Broadway and reviews. What sites would be best?..again thanks.

broadwaybox and theatremania are great sites for finding discount codes for tickets, and they have a wealth of other information.

But for user friendly sites for what you're asking, it's hard to beat playbill.com. You can look at "listings" for both Broadway and off-Broadway and it lists all the current and upcoming productions. Click on any of them and you get a wealth of information -- regarding ticket prices, cast, schedule, etc. and you can click for additional information like some reviews and news about cast replacements, etc.

You can also click there for tickets and it will take you directly to the official site for each show -- either Ticketmaster or Telecharge. But don't do that until you've checked it on Playbill.com as well as broadwaybox and theatremania to see if there are discount codes to use when you book.

The absolute best thing I've seen on Broadway in years -- August, Osage County -- a powerful drama (with fair amounts of comedy).

My favorite current musical production -- Gypsy. South Pacific gets major nods, but I couldn't get tickets.

I totally agree with Neopatrick's recommendations, adding that we were lucky to have seen South Pacific and it is indeed among Broadway's best.

Whew! I just ordered tickets for Gypsy for our one-day October outing to NYC! Thank you, Patrick and Howard, for re-assuring me about our choice.

(We saw South Pacific on the final day of previews, ordered the tickets several weeks earlier in response to an email--BroadwayBox or Playbill, maybe. What a production! We were thrilled!)

BTW, my husband and I will be going to Saint Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn for Black Watch, also next month. I understand it's intense, and totally gripping, about a Scottish regiment's war experience. Has anyone here seen it? The Edinburgh production was in August 2006, I think, and it was at St. Ann's last season.

Frank Langella is fabulous & unknown to many, Mary Ann Plunkett as his wife is also superb (her husband is Jay O Saunders).

Rhea - I find it strange that A Man For All Seasons has discounted tix for previews when it is a limited run and the Roundabout sells most of their tix through subscriptions and it generally is not easy to get non-subscription seats. What does that say about theater-goers?

CPG, maybe that last was a rhetorical question, but there are a couple of possibilities. I honestly think people are getting a little tired of so many revivals. I mean they're fine, but when you're plunking down a couple hundred dollars for a pair of tickets -- I'm not so sure some won't say, "oh, that again". Tickets haven't been going all that well for All My Sons either, despite a major name cast. Meanwhile, look for theatre to take a big hit this season from the economy.

I was shocked that tickets are still available for the limited run of Equus with "Harry Potter", Daniel Radcliffe. That was a real surprise.
