The Woods resort
Has anyone visited The Woods Resort? Any feedback on the different lodges, food, activities? My husband (65) and I (54) are looking for something romantic, with a nice spa, good food, clean, etc. for a couple of nights during the summer. We're interested in any feedback from other Fodorites. Thanks - Claire

Only thing I can tell you is that I have lived in WV for over 20 years and I had never heard of it before.
Checked on their website and see it is in the Eastern Panhandle. I don't do much traveling in that area.
It looks nice.

Well, I'll report on it. We (DH, age 65 and I, age 54) spent a weekend there recently and were really impressed. People are very friendly, food very good with a nice variety, room was clean and fairly large, with a nice view of the small lake. It was really a treat to sit on the balcony in the early morning and late afternoon and watch the ducks and geese on the lake. Prices are very reasonable. Had great massages, though the spa isn't the level of luxury spas elsewhere. The gym has good equipment and is large. You have to drive to the golf course and clubhouse, which is no big deal. Will try the food there on our next visit, which we booked as we were leaving. In comparison to Rocky Gap, it's smaller, but still has a similar rustic feeling, but is far less expensive. Highly recommend for a low-key getaway.
