The Wine Country is shaking
Who felt the 4.7 magnitude earthquake? Centered near Glen Ellen at just after 8:00 pm.
|
Felt it in SF--figured it was in the 4 range.
|
Downtown San Francisco: it felt stronger, like 5.0. My whole apartment building was moving. Or at least it felt so. Nothing fell.
On TV they've started talking about this quake maybe 10 minutes later, channel 7 abc and 4 nbc. |
Me !
I'm 10 miles to the west ! YYYIIIEEEE !!!! Got the kitties a tad freaked. Just heard on KCBS it was a 4.4. I was in SF during Loma Prieta and that was not fun ! R5 |
Stay safe out there everyone!
|
to heck with the residents....did any bottles break?
|
I'm in San Jose and DID NOT feel it...I usually freak out when I do feel them...
|
LOL Llinda!
Yeah, Razzle, this was a valid question! All right, I got scared enough for everybody else :) |
LoveItaly was emailing to me when she said the floor rolled !!
Now stop it, you hear!! |
Hi all, yep I was emailing dear Scarlett when the floor starting rolling! Than a few minutes later my daughter called..she hates earthquakes, lol.
Anyway evidently there is no damage or injuries thank goodness. My grandmother and her parents and sibilings were in the 1906 SF earthquake, so I sort of "roll with the punches" so to speak. Hi Scarlett! |
Didn't feel it this time. Razzledazzle, you live the exciting life up there!
|
:D
|
We were in Santa Rosa at Third Street Ale Works and people sitting on the patio mimicked being on a roller coaster ride. ....ah we are so casual here!
|
A 4-pointer plus is a good size "starter" earthquake, for tourists and new residents - strong enough to really experience it but not massively destructive or terrifying. Any visitors care to comment with impressions?
Myself, I was lounging post-dinner with the cat (who gave no indication whatever). The wall next to me jiggled, stopped, then there was one hard jolt. You know, the scariest thing about most quakes is not knowing how bad it's going to be. Last night's tremors could have been the first moments of a much larger, longer quake. You just don't know as it's happening. FYI, a pal who lives directly across Sloat Blvd from the San Francisco Zoo said that the howler monkeys and the peacocks were going ballistic right afterward. |
Geez, first the heat in CA, then the quake. Your state s/b renamed Shake and Bake.
:-D But on a serious note to my CA pals, please be safe. |
"shaker's raisin martini", anyone?
|
That was good P_M!! I read there was a small aftershock but I didn't feel that. Probably Razzle did.
|
Last time I checked the news yesterday, 3 aftershocks around 2... how do they measure those? 4.4 of what?
|
I was IMing my son who lives in Glen Ellen around 10 PM and he didn't mention a thing about an Earthquake there. Must be he isn't fazed, as he was raised in SoCal. :-!
|
Sorry Faina...that was me and Mrs Kal. :-"
|
Oh, really? With Mr Again we haven't even noticed :))
|
This is great--I prefer my cabernets shaken, not stirred. :-D
Glad everyone is okay! :-) |
A few folks lost a few bottles. Here's a link to the story. Be sure to read the comments below the article.
My fave: " I didn't feel a thing, but I did have corn for dinner. Oh well." :)) http://tinyurl.com/ztodp We'll see what happens in the next 72 hours ! :-o R5 |
Razzle, I read the posts, and there is one I don't understand:
"I live in Sonoma and had just started to remove some masking tape from our upstairs hallway" What's this about? |
Good one, P_M!!:-D Renamed Shake n Bake - best I've heard in a long time. :)
|
hello to all out there in sf, you all posted to my q's a week ago about my trip in a week with my daughter who's returning from china. hope you all are ok... r u at all concerned about any more quakes? btw, my daughter has endured 3 typhoons and 2 quakes while in China, i'm a little worried bout bringin her back to the States - maybe it's her......
|
If we were really worried about earthquakes, we wouldn't live in CA. We live in denial!!!!
|
Faina~
I think the person has been painting walls and was taking down painter's masking tape. You use it to protect the area directly next to what you are painting so said area doesn't get painted. Say you are painting your walls yellow, but what the door trim to remain white, so you "mask"the trim. greentrtle~ There will always be another earthquake. When is any-one's guess. R5 |
Yes, Yes SAB, along the river, denial.
:) R5 |
Somehow I've missed the painting part in that message! Thanks.
|
razz, that's ok, i get the hurricane q's all the time. i'm in south fla. we've got the system down pat here... but it still makes us "jump"
