"The View" NYC

I have read in earlier posts that the View rest. at the Marriott Marquis has a dessert buffet. Has anyone had any personal experience? Do I need reservations for after the theater on a weekend night, if not, what is the wait? Do you remember the cost? Is a jacket required for men? And most imprtantly, were the desserts and view good?

Thanks!

Egads. Don't bother. My husband and I went there last trip, and boy did it stink.

If my memory serves me correctly, there are 2 levels to choose from - the higher level of the restaurant is a sit down dinner and 1 floor below is a buffet. I've eaten here twice(the sit down area) and found the food to be fairly good - but the view is fabulous. Best to go just before sun set. Jacket is not required. I was not here on a weekend so I'm not sure about the wait.

Kim, what about The 14 Wall Street or Top of the Tower? They're a little more interesting and not as touristy. Just a thought.

We've also done The View lounge both pre-theatre and post-theatre. Enjoyed it immensly. Drinks are pricey, though. Dessert buffet looked great, but didn't partake in it myself. Also, never made a reservation. Noticed everyone dressed from casual to semi-formal.

I thought this was about the TV show. Anyone know how you get in the audience for that?

Munch BW's carpet.

We loved the view from the top of the Marriott Marquis. Can't really tell you the cost as we were with a business conference, but the view was spectacular.
