The Union Street Inn
Has anyone stayed at The Union Street Inn in San Francisco and what did one think of their stay? Thank you in advance for your reply.

Frannie,
The Union Street Inn is a wonderful B & B right in the heart of the Union Street Shopping district. Its front door is tucked in between two buildings and is so nondescript that I had to drive down the block three times before I noticed the small placard at the bottom of the stairs leading to the entrance. The inn is small (6 rooms I believe) and beautifully appointed with elegant antiques. There is a garden in the rear of the inn with a path leading to the carriage house, a quaint retreat from the street. They serve a fabulous breakfast as well as afternoon sherry and hors d'oeurves. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I stayed in the front room which had a beautiful bay window overlooking Union Street and was pleasantly surprised to find that the noise level was particularly low. The Union Street Inn is one of my favorites and I highly recommend it for anyone travelling to SF. Due to the loyalty of the inn's returning guests, rooms are often booked months in advance, so call now! Enjoy!

I would agree with everything Cecily said. We stayed in the Carriage House in the garden and it was lovely - like being in the country in the middle of the city.

Is this the same place as The Inn at Union Square? If so, we loved it; had a working fireplace in our room (it was November and we used it!).
Different from the Inn at Union Square, the Union Street Inn is over in Pacific Heights on Union Street, an area of little boutiques and small restaurants, really a nice part of SF. If you stay, try to have lunch at L'Entrecote restaurant and eat up your cholesterol allowance in French style. Yum. Also, Bepple's Pies is a SF tradition on Union Street. It's one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. Have fun.
