The two Best Westerns in Sedona. Which one?
Hey. I've looked for DAYS about where to stay in Sedona. I know this is not a kidney transplant, but it's seriously driving me crazy. We will have a car. Only staying 3 nights. In middle of June. Would like 2 beds in the room. Coming FROM Grand Canyon.
I don't know what we will logistically have time for, but will enjoy the pretty drive from GC for sure. I was thinking about the Canyon Verde RR trip for one day.We fly out (from Phoenix) the afternoon after third night in Sedona, so really only have two full days there. My husband has just gotten out of the hospital with back surgery, so I do not think that the Jeep tour would be for us. Some of the easy hikes would be nice, have our Sr National park passport thing. Just generally relaxing in a pretty locale is fine by me at this point! Just letting you know what I want to do in order to be reasonably close to those things.
Anyway, the upshot is that after looking at dozens of properties, I need some help in deciding this and putting it to rest. Have narrowed down between BW Plus Inn of Sedona or BW Arroyo Roble. Which room for what kind of view at Arroyo? Seems pretty straightforward to get the top floor at BW Inn, not so sure about the Arroyo. Would like a pretty view from a balcony/terrace. Does the BW Inn have a shared terrace for top two floors? That's fine, just asking. Would I be able to have a glass of wine (that I bring into the hotel) out there? Not sure if I would prefer views of rocks or creeks or trees; so long as it is natural and pretty and quiet-ish, I am happy. Usually I complicate our lives terribly on vacay and book very out of the way places that end up being so far from things that eating out, going places, etc becomes problematic. So that's why I picked these two over Enchantment for example. But I do not want to be smack dab in the middle of a busy tacky touristy area in sight of my room, if you know what I mean! I see the BW Inn has a shuttle, don't see that on the Arroyo. Don't know if that really is very important, but at this point I totally might go on a BENDER and need vehicular help. Thanks again for help! I really value your opinions.

We stayed at the BW Arroyo Roble a few years back. Our balcony was private and the view was great. However, I remember that when we were on the balcony we were disturbed by the sound of machinery, and it wasn't air conditioners because we were there during a cold time of year.
An o.k. breakfast was served in a separate building. There was a great view from the terrance of the breakfast room, but it was too cold to sit out there during our stay.
I had scoped the place out on a previous visit and was expecting to have a better experience than we did.
Perhaps somebody has a more recent experience to share with you.

There may have been construction going on at the time happytrails was there. You can check with the hotel to make sure they don't have anything scheduled.
Arroyo Roble is in uptown Sedona, so you can walk to shops, galleries,and restaurants. If you get a room with a view toward Snoopy Rock, the room will be facing away from town.
BW Inn is in West Sedona, really not walking distance to anything.
Should be no issue with bringing a bottle of wine to have on the patio/balcony. I always do that.
With the short time you have in Sedona, I suggest you skip the Verde Canyon Railroad. It is nice, but it takes up a full afternoon. Instead, spend your time driving around, doing short hikes, etc. Some of my favorite things:
Red Rock Crossing
Chapel of the Holy Cross (great place for sunset)
Bell Rock Pathway (pretty level)
Baldwin Trail to the base of Cathedral Rock (pretty level)
Drive up Oak Creek Canyon, browse the native American Jewelry at Garland's and at the stands at the Dairy Queen.
Hike some of West Fork Trail.
Do some wine tasting along Page Springs Road
Browse Tlaquepaque.
The view from Airport Mesa.
Dinner at Dahl & Di Luca, The Silver Saddle Room at the Cowboy Club, and The Schoolhouse in the Village of Oak Creek.
