We're going to be in Maui in Feb and have been looking forward to drving the road to Hana. I just heard that it's not recommended for people with bad backs though! Wondering what all of you think? Is it a do or don't?

gyppielou Oct 1st, 2008 05:42 PM

Other than being in a car for an extended period of time, I have no idea why someone would recommend not driving to Hana. It's a windy road not a rickety old wood slatted rollarcoaster - sheeesssh

I have a bad back & driving really bothers it.

But you make so many stops on Road to Hana that you will be able to get out often.

So go for it.

Pick up a good book like 'Hana Highway - Mile By mile'.
