The Railhead at Boulder Station

My husband and I will be vacationing in Vegas in August. There is a jazz concert during our stay that interests us at the Railhead at Boulder Station Hotel and Casino. Has anyone seen a show here and can recommend or dissuade a visit? And is it convenient (enough) to get to an 8:00 show by taxi after an early dinner on the Strip first? I don't know even know how far it is.

Boulder Station is about a 20 minute drive from the Strip. It is right off the freeway, so you'll jump on the I-15 near the Strip and get off at US 95 at Boulder Hwy. Cabbie will know where it is though, no need for directions, just telling you that it is convenient with the freeway access. Boulder Station is what is considered a "local" casino, it is pretty nice. The Railhead is a nice place to see a venue because it is small. If you have an early dinner such as eating at 5PM, that should be plenty of time to get to Boulder Station. You can look online at stationcasinos.com and see if anything at Boulder Station looks good to eat as well. They have a pretty good Mexican restaurant, can't remember what else they have there.

cherie, I also wanted to mention something you might be interested in as well. During the summer months there is free live entertainment outside at the District. It is really nice, typically it is jazz music and you can just go and sit on the grass and listen or sit on a bench, we usually get an ice-cream from Ben & Jerry's and walk by the boutique shops. Its real pretty, lights in the trees and people just come and listen and stroll. Anyway, something else to think about and it is something that most tourists don't do or know about.

As long as you don't leave the property you are ok; stay for the show and any lingering entertainment you may want. This property is in a fairly unattractive area of Vegas. But within the confines of any Station brand, you will not be let down. Just keep in mind this place is on average, about 2 stars over all for service. This isn't the strip type properties, and you will get a taste for a Vegas that fewer ppl see, even if you will only be there for a few hours. Guadalajara is a great mid-priced Mexican grill (as mentioned above).

Have Fun!

Thanks guys, that's helpful.

Sounds very doable...although 5:00 probably isn't a very bustling time to have dinner. I'll look into some other shows too. We've seen a lot, and this just sounded fun and different.
